Built from carbon fibers and weighing only 66 lbs, the unmanned "Zephyr" plane flew for a reported 50 hrs at more than 50,000 ft above New Mexico. Its 59-ft wingspan contains paper-thin solar panels that accumulate solar power during the day into lithium-sulphur batteries for night-time flying.
