Convert Your HD DVDs to Blu-Ray

Posted February 20, 2008 11:25 AM

From WIRED:

HD DVD is dead. Long live HD DVD! By converting your movies to a more enduring format, you can ensure your movie collection survives the death of the machine that plays them. The process is simple in principle but excruciating in practice, thanks to the complexity of the technology, the myriad of applications needed and the predations of an industry that doesn't want you format-shifting at all.

Considering the high costs of blank BD media, you'd be better off just ripping your discs to your computer's HDD and storing them digitally.

I am rather fond of the graphic in this posting.

But seriously, I have a better solution. Stop buying any movies. The studios have so jealously guarded their rights, that I am quite frankly turned off by the whole mess. If we collectively stopped buying their 'entertainment', we could force them into doing things a little more consumer friendly. I doubt that this couch potato generation will ever give up their addiction to Hollyweird, but I have been doing my part.

Hello Brave Sir Robin

I commend you for your action, or in this case the lack of it.

Kind Regards....
