Are Defense Program Changes Coming?

Posted November 20, 2008 8:19 AM

Cost overruns, missed completion dates, and technology that sometimes does not live up to expectations seems to be routine when it comes to DoD budgets and weapons programs, as a recent articles point out. Budget issues need to be addressed and decisions made on scores of weapons programs. Should more pressure be applied to defense contractors to get them to perform budget-wise? What changes do you think should be instituted to keep costs under control?

Sounds like the start of Democrat rule cut defence spending. So they can spend it else where. Problem is they tend to slash and cut to the point that are men are under equipped to defend anything. Like the armored vehicles that would have save lives if they had them.

How about welfare reform domestic and foreign. We as a nation give away too much not just to see people thru hard times but so the can live the rest of their life's on the taxpayer's back.

And how about some corruption clean up. Probably lots to go around if so many were not pocketing it, or pork barreling it.

Let see $700,000,000,000.00 fractionally banked so times 9. (low side) Who ever gets stimulated it just decreased the worth of your dollars in your pocket etc. by that amount.

Most of the banks in mortgage problems bundled illegal securities out of their mortgages and sold them. Now they are no longer the Holder In Fact but only the Holder For Value. I don't hear of some long line of court cases for this.

Or how about the Diploma Mill in Spokane Washington that sold all the Fake diplomas to all those government agents. Fraud means they should have to pay their pay checks back plus interest and serve time. No wonder the Justice dept. tried to keep it under wraps. It includes some of their agents also.

...when the military wants (and often demands) the very 'leading/cutting-edge' of technology products, there's a high certainty that "problems" will ALWAYS occur in (a) design, (b) production and (c) testing.

...if you want the 'leading/cutting-edge' you gotta PAY for it (in money, hours and disasters)

...if you want CHEAP & PLENTIFUL, then go ahead and (rightfully) demand 'just-in-time' products and quality.
