I'd say time exposure of Northern Lights, but the smoke tends to contradict that idea.

Way back in the 60's, NASA was sending rockets up from Wallops Island to do atmospheric tests. We'd see things that looked a lot like this over south central Pennsylvania. I still have the "UFO" pictures I took of them. Quite fascinating, and/or disturbing until we got an explanation for the phenomenon.

If the picture was not clearly of the sky, I would say an oblique light photograph of an oil sheen on a very calm pond, but since it is not, it is obviously a special type of cloud formation that has exceedingly symmetric ice crystals that result in 1/4 wavelength reflection of incident low angle sunlight, hence the notices interference patterns. In such a formation, the variable thickness of the cloud results in various colors.

A very interesting side feature is the sunlight cast on one of the mountains in the background below this cloud that is apparently critical angle reflected to illuminate only the one mountain, and not the others.
