I just did what most many of you did.... "Google images" results proposed all types of eggs (some are quite similar though) but, well; my image does not correspond to any kind of EGGS.

BTW: shouldn´t we set a deadline for this? .... maybe Dec 31, 2018?

That is probably my guess but I didn't know what they were. As a kid we would sometimes pick up these things (or something that looked like them) on the side of the rail road tracks. Rumor back then was that they were on their way to a steel mill. I don't know if the rumors were correct way back then. I also don't know if your guess is correct now. But I do know it is interesting that the two match up.

These are almost blueberries, but maybe with powdery mildew overgrowth.

OR they are some sort of berry from a tree in South America related to Junipers.

OR they might be an edible berry with a very high yeast bloom on the skins.

TA TA TAAAAA... well done phoenix: at the left is a ceramic container we use for grinding acrylic polymer. This process is made using ceramic balls and smoke black (which causes the weird spots on the balls)

Re: What is this?

no, that's not it.

Actually, what gave me the idea, my girlfriend made me an apple pie 2 days ago, and I was finishing it off this morning which gave me the idea...

She using ceramic beads when she bakes the crust.

When I fall down I get right back up, right before I fall again.... so yes.... you could call it persistency.

That was fun... thanks

Doesn't that make the pie crust a bit too crunchy?

Yep, called pie stones. On pies with prebaked crusts, the crust will bubble up from the pan, like pizzas do. The stones hold it down while it bakes. Anyone heard of a pie bird?

Well, well - I've actually used these ceramics balls for micronizing pigments in the paint business (I.C.I. Paints Division, Slough, England), where they were known as "Steatite Balls." The polymer solution (or emulsion), plus pigment and extender are tumbled in a ceramic container for hours until the desired pigment particle size is achieved. The alternative was stainless steel balls, but these were no good for light colors, since some of the steel did get ablated.

well, if sinterized clay @ 1,200ºC (Ceramic) is to be considered as REGULAR clay, there may be 1 GA for you too!

Hey those are mine. Give them back, I can't function with just one rolling around in my noggin, thought processes require collisions, and I am just not having any.

Somehow those look like tasty jaw breakers. I think I should not be left alone with grinding balls. Did I just say that?

Fossilized conquistador balls? or old musket balls. Those can't be escaped Nazi fishing weights, because those are concrete and have embedded bones.

They look like ceramic balls from a gas barbecue grill. The gas flame burns on the surface of the ceramic and glows, adding the radiant cooking you would get from charcoal briquettes. It also volatilizes the drippings to add flavor.
