A Customer Use an unoriginal USB cable to charge iPhone 5S and it will turn off automatically after charging and is unresponsive when press the power button

It is either replaceable under warranty, or it is chargeable. Go for it.

Have them try an "original" or Apple OEM USB lighting cable and charger.

When you say "after charging" - did it actually charge, or do you mean "after removing from the charger"? Do you see a battery charging indicator when it's plugged in? Does it turn off immediately after unplugging from the charger or will it keep running for any amount of time? If it can only run while connected to power it would seem it's the battery that's at fault.

Are you able to open the phone? If so, do it, being mindful of the home button cable still attached to the motherboard which must be disconnected prior to lifting the screen away completely, along with the digitizer/lcd cables. (Guide) Look at the water damage indicators - the motherboard, the battery, or both may be damaged. Try replacing the battery. If that doesn't resolve the issue, it's probably the motherboard.

Good questions! (I will read further down and see what answers you get!)

My bet is that the phone was NOT charged and eventually the battery was empty and it powered down. This is also why it will not power up!!

Just guessing.....

Known issue: on all iPhone 5 series, once the battery begins to degrade, it begins to display irrational behaviors around charging and battery level issues (most notably that it tells you that the battery is dead when it is fully charged or it suddenly goes from 50% to 0% while you are using it). Apple can test it for you at the Apple Store (if you have one you can get to); the test gives you a graphical representation of battery stability, and once you drop into the "red zone" you can no longer predict how it will behave. Around here, they will replace the battery for about $180, but you lose all of your data (so be sure to have it backed up first). Other than that, it might be time to upgrade.

On my iPhone 5 a similar issue was resolved by changing the charging circuit board rather than the battery. As a bonus the non-OEM cable was found to be in perfect charging order.

Vipfixphone try a hard reset by holding both the power on & home buttons and wait for the Apple to appear.

That is the probably the first and only sane answer to be had! I have done that even on Android, except there is no "home" button, and holding down power button works in that event.

A further reason for me to continue to never every giving any money to Apple for anything, ever.

They make the most expensive doorstops (good one!) in many different sizes, all over priced.

Perform a hard reset; hold down the upper power button and the lower select button at the same time. It will reboot the entire op system.
