Having worked for a municipality for 15 years, I still get employment solicitations crossing my desk kitchen table periodically.
Here are the requirements for for a local, municipal Planning Intern:
"Graduation from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Urban Planning or a closely related field within 24 months prior to the close date of the recruitment."
Here is the compensation offered:
"$11.33 per hour, Internship is for up to nine (9) months. This is a FLSA non-exempt position with no benefits."
This position is basically a gofer and they want 4-5 years of college for $11.33/hour compensation for a 30 hour a week job? That's $339.00 a week!
