It's a marketing scam to sell crap, nobody really believes the Earth is flat that's in charge....they seem to be laughing at the ignorance that runs rampant in this society, while taking their money...I suspect there are some that just enjoy slapping the know-it-alls that insist they know everything and anything outside of accepted science is to be ridiculed, it's like smart guys are having fun with dumb and dumber individuals that have nothing better to do then argue a moot point....It shows you what good marketing and branding can do with nothing....

It's a human weakness....I think it has to do with tribal instincts, the need to be accepted, some people are more susceptible than others....You see this behavior in people who join cults, the need to be a member of a group seems to trump common sense in some people...seems to stem from a lack of confidence and low self esteem....possibly a form of mental illness...an emotional condition that can actually be more acute with higher intellect I think.....

Oddly, no actual details were provided in the article on what the flat earthers believed the effect of gravity actually was.

Garry Larson of the "Far side" comic strip wrote a book detailing in it that gravity was actually due to the expansion of the universe and when you jumped up in the air you didn't fall the expansion of the universe caused the ground to catch up to you. It was written in a very scientific and logical way, but again it was done as a joke.

Not surprisingly as the case is here some people cannot tell the difference or properly prove or disprove the conclusions they come to (or just plain don't bother).

If Earth was flat what would be on the other side?

They don't speak of that side, what is commonly called "evil opposite world" where everything is a mirror image and........opposite. Mainly because their mirror opposites wouldn't believe in their theories or even that they existed.

While I do not remember where I saw it... I got a real good laugh off of an advertisement for one of their "truth talks", the add said...

"Speakers from all around the world will present their views".

The underlined text was added by me. What ya think, did they notice the stupidity of their add and position?
