I want to find out the steps of having software developed and programed for an inkless pen, my invention. Also the programming for the software.

Give me some answers please, let me know what or who I need to contact.

What about a random word generator to assist with the reading of the white paper?

Step 1 - Hire a programmer

Step 2 - Ask him what he needs to know to write your s/w.

You aren't providing enough information. Is there hardware interfacing? What programming language would be appropriate? What is it supposed to do? If it is inkless, but is a 'pen', then presumably it uses some other method to register a mark... could even be carbon paper.

If the entire project is proprietary and secret, I'm willing to sign an NDA to find out more..send me a personal message.

You can also buy a digital pen that records as you write. This sounds a bit more like the OPs intention.

Hi, snickers2!

Here's the thing. You never know whether your idea is the same as, different from better or worse than what already exists until you get a chance to see what else is out there.

In the meantime, you can protect your idea without having the specifics about the software or programming, simply by making a careful description of it and registering it with the US Patent Office as a "Provisional Patent". This will give you a whole year to do the actual development with tech-talented partners who can then become partners in the venture, but never the inventor; because even though they put the guts into your idea to make it work, it's the original idea that counts as the invention.

So write down your idea and get a Provisional Patent for it. While you're doing this, you'll discover what else is out there; and if it's the same as what you thought up, you don't have to proceed any farther. But until then, never stop.

Mark
