Lighten the door.

Don't open it so often.

Either remove the doors, or weld them shut and climb in the window!

Ok, I did it you furry cat...

Another good idea to the post is to encourage the user to train his Jedi powers and open the door with a hand wave. Maybe done in the right way... I'll try on my car too... I'll be right back, it's just outside the building so maybe it does not work because there's the window, or maybe I should unlock it first...

Sorry, didn't work.

How about spending some thousands of dollars in a customized actuator assembly to do it remotely (and pretend you're a Jedi with the hand wave and so...)

Tell your boss, your wife, and your best friend what you really think of them.

That should close a few doors.

Fit revolving doors and just wait for somebody else to pass by (if you're quick it doesn't matter which direction they're going in).

On Star Trek, the characters just go "shhhhhhhh", and the doors open and close without them even being touched. Er, well, possibly.

According to a reasonably informative programme I dare not mention, if the 'stars' had annoyed the stage-hands they open the doors just a little bit late.....ouch ! At last - Klingon foreheads explained except they're sideways groved, but never mind !

When you hang the door, tilt the whole jamb outward (toward the closed position) 10°.

Much as I hate to type the words, Del's rising butts was a good idea. I don't know how widespread their use is, so I'll insert a pic;

Give me the GA ! Good for clearing carpet etc.

In the realms of madness, how about an entire frame that tilts ? Push it at the top and it tilts away from you so the door swing easier. Yeah, I know, complicated mechanisms always fail more often, but it'd work. Come to think of it, maybe we should all just use cat-flaps !

Down coal mines they used to have little kids operate the doors, but I think we abolished that some years back. Shame, because with out legal system it sounds like a very good use for the teenage delinquents that the courts don't punish - "You shall go forth to Mrs Brady's and sit by her door. Open it at her beckoning else we'll come back and ***** you."

Maybe doors could be counterbalanced, a bit like sash window or a shadouf. It would need fine tuning in-situ, but I cant' see why it wouldn't work.
