What Happened?

08/20/2011 10:54 AM

I am certain I am not the only curious member or guest...

CR4 was down for about 22 hours... Or, was it only out in my neck of the woods?

I was experiencing a little CR4 cold turkey withdrawal!

I am not sure about the 22 hours but SA was also deprived of CR4 joy.

Maybe it was a flattery (flat battery)

Well Hendrik, I was afraid that CR4 admin was tired of my comments... Whew! There must be an internal issue with GlobalSpec/CR4 hardware or software (GlobalSpec site was operational)

The 22 hours is sort of a guess. I am hoping admin will let us in on the story.

[edit] In fact, there are some CR4 functions that have just now becoming operational.

It was actually much longer, but you just could not detect it. CR4 scientists will be testing a time machine and things got backed up. Or was it ahead of themselves? I don't know... I will not remember...

Re: What happened?

Roger Pink blew up the room where the CR4 server is located.

It took this long for a moderator to discover it?

Interestingly enough, the only person I could communicate with was kramarat.

I was beginning to wonder if I would ever "see" some of you again, and it was distressing me.

Sadly, LynDoor™ Industries has suffered a near collapse, due to loss of sales.

Re: What happened?

I could tell they were working on it this morning. The 505 error turned into a 503 error, later CR4 on google page, and now back up.

I'm not going to comment on the roger line. I'm laughing though.

I could almost picture it.

I actually started looking through my facebook friends, and thought, that's right, I don't really like those people much. Or at least don't have much to talk about with them.

I had a similar experience....don't know about the 22 hours. I noticed it yesterday afternoon and finally got reconnected a few minutes ago.

Interesting how our various relationships have evolved, isn't it.

Doorman and I have our own "business" here, and we have virtually forced KrisDel out of the market place. (They still have that hot dog stand at the drag strip, I guess)

kramarat and I have privately wagered on sporting events and have shared Facebook sites.

There have been many other interesting people here, and I'm sure many more will come.

For some reason that reminds me of a quote:

"There was no blacklist at that time, as some people said. That was a lot of horse*&# .... The only thing our side did that was anywhere near blacklisting was just running a lot of people out of the business."

John Wayne, unclear on the concept of blacklisting (from this interview)

Hey guys!

We did indeed have an extended outage and while we were down for a while, we lost absolutely no data and we are back up and running 100%. No other GlobalSpec websites were affected.

Thanks for your patience and welcome back

I won't tell you what my therapist told me I should do. She said I was being irrational and no one had ever died due to CR4 withdrawal.

I'm shopping for a new therapist.

Good thinking. Obviously a quack, with no connection to reality.

No loss of data? So all of the stupid stuff I have said is still here?

Maybe LynDoor™ Ind. should consider computer assisted psychotherapy solutions as a product line. Just think of the possibilities of variations on "shrink" we could come up with.

Our first customer could be the pregnant guy with the pot problem, from another thread.

Collectively we probably have enough psychosis on CR4 to fill a power generating barge. Or a cement oil absorber. Or, is that adsorber?

'Yeah, man...'

Or maybe it 'Ya, mon...'

I always thought the energy kite might pull the energy barge.

LynDoor™ C.A.P.S. May be some future to it. Might sell as well as our 'Sub Ubi'.

LynDork™ being one of the major producers of thermodynamic mistral differential power on CR$, can use this in conjunction with their extensive chimerical product line, to in fact commit some serial avian assassination with a single metamorphic nodule

Re: What happened?

So what did happen?

There I was, mid-comment, thinking I might actually have something useful to say at last. And then there you were....gone!!! All my friends suddenly gone!!!

I still have to decide whether it was a good thing or not. Things are not always as obvious as you would think. I am still getting huge pleasure from the fact that our television packed in a couple of weeks ago, a huge boost to our quality of life, and I've started reading again.

I got an awful lot done today, and ticked off many items from both my wife's and my 'To Do' lists, but being bereft of CR4 was like having one's security blanket viciously snatched away.

I think CR4 owes us some security.

Heyyy fellow junkeeze!

Y'all gotta learn to cross-addict. Find something else you can get addicted to as well. That way, when one source drops out, the other one is there.

OK, seriously, I was (for probably the 50th time), going to the "Fantastic Engineering" post to see if ronseto had returned to enlighten us. Oh yeah...

GottaGoByebyethen.

OK, I'm back. I hope ronseto is OK.

Hello everyone, so it wasn't the end of the world as we know it!

Well it gave me time to clean the bunker and replace the long life milk and the tins of Spam, so not a complete waste.

Good to know everyone is OK, no adverse effects or PTSD.

Re: What happened?

Sorry folks, I finally got my pod up and running - even made contact with the mother ship in orbit around Titan. But I was on CR4 at lift off and my energy vortex sucked the site to my intended destination, using up all of my stored energy from the flux capacitor and leaving me, once again, stranded here on this rock. It just took a while for the CR4 signal to return from the mother ship.

DRAT, FOILED AGAIN BY CR4!!!

Hi Folks

We had a bit of an issue with the main CR4 web server starting Friday afternoon (EDT) that took the web site offline. We're back (obviously), and no data was lost or anything like that... just off the air for a bit.

Thanks
- Mark

while this has nothing to do with the subject I was wondering how I could find the information which was posted previously some time back on using shiny aluminum pieces to create your own electricity. I have acquired some pieces of this aluminum metal and would like to try and build these devices to produce my own electricity! Help?

On the right side of the CR4 screen is place called "Search all of CR4". Type "shiny aluminum" in the box and click G0. I think the one you are looking for is the 8th one down in the list.
