Mozilla FireFox Problem (CR4 Editor Toolbar)

09/01/2011 5:33 AM

Hi Folks, I am hoping that one of you Guys (and Gals) can answer a question here about FireFox, the question is:- Recently the editor bar on CR4, when posting, has suddenly failed to appear. I have played around with FireFox settings, but nothing seems to help. There is a box displayed all the time in the editor window that the editor is loading its contents, but it never does...... IE does not have a problem and displays the editor perfectly, so I don't feel that it is a WinXP or Laptop problem..... Thanks up front.

I'm posting this using FF, and have no problem.

Just a long shot - is anything being blocked? Do you have an "allow" button at the top r.h. corner of the page? It's not always obvious (I've missed it before - leading to a lot of frustration).

Which version of FireFox you are running may make a difference. I'm still running FF 3.6.xx and have not had any problems. I've heard that there are problems with FF 4.

Version 6. It worked fine up until a few days ago......

I have removed it and reinstalled, to no effect....

I strongly believe (I'm dead certain) that the problem was caused by WinCleaner. I had a load of problems after using it, running UNDO, fixed almost everything. Its really crap software, cannot recommend it, do not use it....

It was only supposed to remove "incorrect" registry entries, not change the whole XP setup.......Totally crap software and the support have not come back either........they know its crap too......

I think that is the correct way for us to go, supply personal positive/negative experience with Software, hardware or whatever......

Maybe we either don't do it enough, or we need a "repository" for such infos....

I gave up on FF at V4. After that, there were so many bugs in it that it never gave me any good service. It used to erase the reply screen if I backed up for any reason.

I've given up and gone to Chrome.

No probs last night on FF (6 I think...). Only difference I've seen is the "Your subscription has been updated" popup is sharp edged and white.

Back and Forward buttons retain editor contents

....this post written in IE8

I found FireFox frequently failed to show parts of web pages so I dumped it. Chrome works far better for me (as does IE9) without needing fixes and workarounds.

I fixed my problems myself.

1) Made IE the main browser. Saved all bookmarks and stuff from FF.

3) Uninstalled Firefox. Removed all folders relating to Mozilla if still there.

3) Ran a registry cleaner ( Not WinCleaner though, that is a real crappy program that I blame for all of the problems in the first place), I used JV16 and Wise.

(Its difficult to get FireFox OFF a PC)

4) Power down/up

5) Re-installed FireFox 6.xx

6) Problems solved.

If I had any such problems I would be sitting there eating frustration with really large spoons. Just yesterday I spent an hour in remove programs and ended up getting nowhere.

I find it a breach of privacy, to allow things to attach themselves to a private machine in no time at all and then take over. I tried downloading a MS moviemaker app and it changed my desktop.

More than an hour and it is still stuffing me around.

I'll need the 'Dude' to come over, it just takes too much time out of the day. He'll click here and fly there with all windows opened and It'll be over in no time at all. Maybe it was the small print in accept here.

I'm over it, Ky.
