Great Engineers & Scientists

In 1676, Sir Isaac Newton wrote "If I have seen further it is by standing on ye shoulders of Giants." In this blog, we take Newton's words to heart, and recognize the many great engineers and scientists upon whose shoulders we stand.

Great Inventor

Posted August 12, 2006 6:00 PM

As I recall, Booker T. Washington was a prolific inventor. I thought his story might be of interest to readers for his work with peanuts and his abilities, which transcended his color .

A biography of Booker T. Washington is a good idea. Have you read the bio of George Washington Carver on CR4? There's a brief mention of Washington that you may find to be of interest.

We didn't realise you had featured him an interesting character in a time when few blacks had any oppertunity for education .It's interesting how a man with so many things against him could still excel .

Adversity is what we were designed for. It's how we grow and develop. The main thing is to have an accurate understanding of the real challenges you're faced with and devote your efforts towards those while letting the peripherals to sort themselves out. Throughout history the greatest people have been the ones who faced the greatest difficulties and overcome them.

Is that why the kids today are such underachievers maybe they think it's possible to avoid all adversity and live in a world of bliss .Which ,as we know, takes all the fun out of it .It's overcoming adversity that gives the best reward ..And spurs the highest achievement .
