Neil Young loves his LincVolt so much that he wrote an album about it called Fork in the Road back in 2009. But that was before it became the starting point for the a three-alarm fire that burned a piece of a warehouse containing decades of the Canadian rocker's memorabilia on October 9, 2010.
A few interesting facts about Neil Young's Lincvolt, some of which were stolen from Lincvolt.com:
* Lincvolt, rocker Neil Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental Convertible
weighing 6,200 pounds, has been converted to an electric series hybrid,
and is touted as being cleaner than the cleanest hybrid.
* Lincvolt's micro-turbine generator gives the driver the freedom to
choose the fuel you use to charge the battery bank. You decide how
green you want to be. Sources include 100 percent biodiesel or
petro-diesel in the turbine generator to charge, plugging into the
electrical grid, or any combination of the above.
So far, Neil Young's Lincvolt has also caused an estimated $850,000 in damage. It may not, in fact, "be better to burn out than it is to rust" – especially if it causes monetary damage like this.
