Model Something! 6/25/12 - Creatures!

Posted June 25, 2012 2:19 PM by Mizuti

This Weeks Difficulty: Easy-Medium

This weeks modeling challenge is a lot more open ended. We're looking to see what kind of fictional creatures you can model or draw. You can create a creature from nothing, or replicate an already "existing" fictional character. Bonus points are awarded if you make a character from scratch and give a brief biological explanation of it's habitat, diet, or general lifestyles.

As per always for this blog, all mediums of modeling are allowed, whether it be a serious program like Inventor Pro, or something a little silly such as Photoshop or MS Paint. Just make sure to include the name of your medium with your submission, and any sources you might've used! Last weeks entries can be found on CR4's Facebook page here!

Here's some pictures of various creatures to get your mind working:

Oh, I like this!

I will sweeten the pot with an internet cocktail award for the best representation of a creature or character for any of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series.

For some examples: NowWhatian Boghog, Grebulon, Perfectly Normal Beast, Silastic Armourfiend of Striterax, or one that gets a lot of press on CR4, a Vogon.

Marvin the Paranoid Android would be good, but he may have been better last week. He's not really a creature, more of a robot.

Can I clip that (for personal consumption - no, not literally !) ? I'd love to print it out and have it on the wall. Don't know why I'm asking, because I will anyway .

Mrs K had a bithday recently, and I got a nice card. It was all plush and velvety, with a space to stick a picture. None of yer Hallmark stuff with drivel written inside etc. The space is still blank, and I just know she would love that pic if I can print and size it correct. I might even mail you a photo of the end result.

The Escher Duck lives in close family groups, in and around airfields. Its low flying, acrobatic and formation flying can often be the cause of bird strikes hence the use of bird scaring devices programmed with the nasally sounding call of "Teelhe-oooo" used to break up formations. like the magpie it also has a habit of stealing pilot equipment which it uses to good effect in its courtship displays.

Here drawn using Techsoft 2D Design.
