Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

How to Plow Snow on the Last Day of June

Posted June 30, 2008 12:01 AM by dstrohl

I'll bet this baby can push some snow! This 1945 Oshkosh is ready to just bolt the plow on. Oshkosh continued production throughout WWII, producing 6X6 trucks for the war effort. The engine compartment in this truck at the Rhinebeck show was immaculate. It looked as good inside as it did outside. Too bad it doesn't snow here in June. But there's always July.

Oshkosh Trucks are tough.

To think that congress was going to cut purchasing this type of truck because they didn't think it could withstand if there was a war in the Mideast.

guess what, particular use proved them wrong. and these Oshkosh turn out to be a very reliable truck. as the allot of us already knew.

They sure are tough, phoenix911. Not sure if you saw this piece when it ran back in March, but I did a write-up on the Oshkosh Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Track (HEMTT). That baby is the backbone of the U.S. Army's logistics fleet.

those are cool, I enjoy watching them maneuver in rough terrain.

After the Persian gulf war back in '91, Saudi Arabia, I believe awarded Oshkosh a large contract, because of its reliability, and unofficially because of its thanks to the US for its efforts. (can't prove that though)

good article Moose.
