The Evidence for Comparative Assessment

Posted July 03, 2009 7:35 AM

A U.S. initiative to compare the merits of competing medical treatments will consume $1.1 billion of the funds provided by the economic stimulus act. Comparative effectiveness is viewed as a viable way to help drive down spiraling health care costs while continuing to provide quality care. Proponents maintain this direction will prioritize research for surgical procedures and medical devices. Some are concerned that individuals' unique medical needs might not be considered, or that regulatory burdens will quash medical innovation. What's your view of this policy? Can 'one-size' fit all?

Invest in prevention!!!

I don't think there is any prevention to be found in surgery or pharmaceuticals. It has never been complicated except that the 'mongers' at the FDA and pharmaceutical companies have wanted it to be complicated. The more complicated it is, the more you can't find health, and the more you die, then the more you need surgery and drugs. but that isn't health. That is sickness medicine.

We, the People, must continue to insist that the industry provides Health, consistent with the Hippocratic Oath. (Not the hypocritic oath practiced by FDA, et al)
