Providing Web-Link for Details While Replying in CR4

08/29/2015 1:21 AM

Whenever, a CR4 Member is asking a question, many members provide/answer in detail and provide the web-link also starting with www. or http: etc. I used to copy the link and paste in the MSWORD Doc. and re-copy and paste, so that the link appears in blue color and straight away one can click and open it. If I directly paste the link, it shows in black color and does not open when it is clicked.

Some members give rely in a very simple manner as "Look HERE", "THIS may help" and the words HERE and THIS will appear in blue and when clicking - it opens.

For example see below sent by Mr.IdeaSmith, on the right hand side 4th row from bottom - you can see "this" in blue color.

I want to know how to make such simple reply. Another point is , suppose there are more than one link, say 4 or 5 whether we can accomodate all of them in one THIS or HERE. appearing in blue color. OR it is to be individually sent.

Thanks,

Been asked before.

Same answer.

Look above in your editing window the tool bar.

Highlight the word that you want to underlay with a link.

See the Earth symbol on the top?

Click this.

Fill in the URL and submit.

Voila link is there for the text. You could keep the link as text as well. Highlight the link text and usually it should already be filled in as link as well. So just highlight the copied link, click earth symbol and submit.

Every link has to be posted separately.

Good luck!
Every link has to be posted separately.
?submitted

it´s always a good practice to verify (in preview pane) that your links go where they´re intended to (there are sites that keep the domain URL in your browser´s addr. bar while using the IFRAMES (with different URL) to address their hosted pages)

the CR4 however has quite short limited post editing time (you couldn´t make a coffe while editing your post)

so this actually may become and right
Every link has to be posted separately.
Been gone for while have you?

Its a long while ago that time was limited.

You better direct your answer to OP.

While it seems I can not properly express myself in English I know what these links do.

So for OP again:

You can only underlay one link under a highlighted text!

You can repeat this in the text window multiple times by highlighting more text.

Good luck.

Thanks for your detailed reply, very helpful.

I've never even been able to see that toolbar that you show in my regular browser Safari so I tried Firefox and I do see it there so I'm going to test it here.

Boeing prepares the Dreamliner for Paris 2015

A couple of glitches later and it looks OK.

And it works in Preview so I'm going to submit ....

Edit - It did work so thank you for that.

Safari has never supported the tool bar, or CR4 has never supported Safari. I have used Firefox for many years because of that weakness.

Using Safari with CR4 is like sending formatted text 30 or 40 years ago!

Yes, your link does work!

Please learn the difference between "tough" and "though". Notice also that I do not use all-caps, and therefore am not shouting. Not that you would ever know or care.

Note that if you reply to a post that uses capital letters you are shouting the same line.

How about correcting it before you bark up the same tree you are sitting on?

As you noticed Admin is quite good correcting the OP.

Are you a retired English teacher?

I never gonna learn English properly. I wish I would know the difference of tough and though.

Then you can learn "through" and then "thorough".

On my iPad, I can paste the link, but that's it, it's not a hyperlink. Also when using an iPad, you don't have the menu option for it, as well as inserting pictures or formatting. Along with using an iPad, one has to manually put in a New line.

1. Copy the URL /http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/103000/Providing-Web-Link-for-Details-While-Replying-in-CR4'

2. Hit the spacebar and it will turn blue (active): http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/103000/Providing-Web-Link-for-Details-While-Replying-in-CR4

3. Select the URL you just pasted in, and type any word you choose. It will still be an active link, but with the word you typed.

This method works on all M$ products.

There are some great explanations here of how to insert a link into a post on CR4. As some others have mentioned, the CR4 toolbar is not compatible with Safari and some other browsers.
