Airport Security Body Scans Go Generic

Posted August 01, 2011 8:28 AM

Body scanners at U.S. airports will start using a generic body outline to replace the revealing images that so many passengers complained about. A software upgrade is making the change possible while still delivering high levels of security at checkpoints. Will this technology ease the issues travelers have had with body scans?

Should have been done from the getgo. It is not rocket science. It is simply basic decency.

By the way, are you talking about the Xray or microwave machines?

Just morph every body into model shape, and pretty soon folks will be itching to go through the line twice....

X-ray, X-ray off the wall; who's the fairest bod of all?

I wonder; will the new technology will be able to discern hooters should this poster attempt to smuggle them onto an airplane?

It is pointless.

They miss all kinds of stuff in the xray of bags (personal experience).

100 % inspection doesn't work.

This is just feel good theater for the easily intimidated.

Frictional loss to Frequent flyers.

None of this is about air safety. This is all about control. I opt out each and every time I'm faced with those scanners. I understand it low level, but if I can screen out (notice the pun?) one source of radiation, I'm going to do it. Won't change anything for me.
