A new condition becoming prevalent among Gen x & y types has been dubbed computerlepsy, a condition where the individual seems quite normal until placed in front of a computer monitor, at which point the individual lapses into a zombie-esc mental state drifting between conscious and unconscious state....the only cure known is a website known as CR4, a community of engineering types that engage in stimulating discussions about current problem solving techniques and fixes that stimulate the mental processes that combat this dreaded condition.....Computer manufacturers are rumored to be considering direct links to this website with every new device....

Ah yes - I have dim memories of all nighters in college way before the PC - so this is what they look like now.Thank you for sharing this.

I do remember falling asleep on a key punch in the computer building.

Meanwhile, in Japan, looking exhausted may get you a raise because of such hard work and dedication.

The pop up on the screen says.

Thank you for wearing your hard hat. The central server automatic response unit has noted from the web cam spy program that you are not wearing your high visibility vest to input data. This terminal is now locked.

Obviously this was taken before CR4 fixed the time limit on the reply entry. This poor CR4 member was writing a multi-page rant about anonymous posters. Evidently it disappeared when he went to post it.

Reminds me of working night shift in Malawi learning NCR500 programming in the 60's and updating magnetic striped record cards - hand fed. The installation was eventually thrown out. The salesmen had been presented with any old configuration of machines and told to sell them regardless of the consequences. The worst were NCR400 paper tape programmed accounting machines, especially after they had been dropped into Lobito Bay en route to Zambia.
