Humvee Replacement Contract Awarded

Oshkosh has won the U.S. Army contract for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), which will replace the venerable Humvee. The company beat out a Lockheed Martin/BAE team and AM General. The $6.75 billion award will see 17,000 vehicles built, and eventually could result in 55,000 made for the service and the U.S. Marine Corps. The design is said to offerlightness and speed as well as protection from mines.
