Fire Alarm Bell Repurposed for waking the dead

Posted January 16, 2008 10:08 AM

From Engadget:

For those who could easily sleep through a tornado (or similar), there are a plethora of alarm clocks out there designed to wake even you up. Still, there's nothing like crafting a suitable alternative yourself, and the folks over at Hacked Gadgets decided to exemplify overkill in their latest concoction.

Repurposed

To use or convert for use in another format or product

Yes I had to look this one up myself. I guess you glean something new every day.

Maybe it is a legitimate word but it's ugly lazy language...there are doubtless more elegant alternatives.

.. like ' reused '... shorter, just as explicit and more accurate as surely the 'purpose' of the bell hasn't been changed.. after all it's still a bell !
..Now if it had been converted into a soup bowl I'd be less irritated.

In fact, it is still a Fire Bell. As in: "Get up you schlub, or you are going to get fired!"

I knew someone at my old university who could sleep thru even the loudest alarm clock. He built himself a rig that sprayed cold water on himself from different angles when his alarm clock went off. A much saner alternative when living in a built-up residential area.

Bah, I like the bell. If that doesn't wake you up, the beating you will recieve from your annoyed neighbors will do the trick.

:)

New purpose = Desleep - It will remove my name from the population register. That would be a nasty purpose.

I have yet to see the bell which can wake the dead.

Now...The Last Trumpet is a different Kettle of fish entirely.

Kind Regards....
