Who's Fixing Your Valves?

Posted March 29, 2008 9:24 AM

Valve service and repair can be done by trained (or untrained) maintenance people at your plant, or you can call in an outside vendor. Are any of them certified? Servicing valves is critical these days because ANSI, ASME, PED, OSHA, and FM certifications can be compromised if the job isn't done right. Poor service practices can adversely affect valve performance and safety. Do you go to a certified vendor approved by the valve OEM?

I must say if a service company has trained its people right. They would have to know about ANSI, ASME, PED, OSHA, and FM certifications. The understanding about working on valve is based on these certifications. I would really like to see service company have to do what I did and work for a valve company making valves and then learn service. I have trained certified and OEM service people and they know the words but not the whys or how to. This is a great Field to be in and it changes every day. ( You have to love it)

Thanks
