Color Trends Come to the Surface

Posted April 06, 2008 8:01 AM

In European fashion right now, the colors black and white are all the rage. Interior designers and even automobile manufacturers typically follow, providing customers with the latest in color trends. Keeping up with the consumer's changing preferences is a challenge for coating manufacturers, who have to predict the rise and fall of a particular color or hue. Some trends are seasonal, but not all. How do you forecast what's hot and what's not in your product line? Are the colors your customers are demanding readily available?

"...Are the colors your customers are demanding readily available?"

That has been MY problem more than once:

(1) wanted a Honda Civic/DX in white exterior and ANY light color interior...but, not avialable as Honda (a) didn't offer the DX in white exterior; and (b) only had black or dark gray interior colors. Apparently, Mr. Honda has never been to Arizona, USA, during the summer months!
(2) wanted a white house with a white (or light) roof; but U.S.HOMES, only sold "color-coordintated earth-tone" homes, ie: dark yellows, browns, etc..
