No, I remember that post(ing), but it was someone else quoting an acutely mixed metaphor. Is 'an' more common than 'un'? Encrypters and decrypters should know. You must be extra sensitive to 'an..' as I must be to 'do..'. Anyway, 'ana' should be closer to retentiveness, compared to 'an'.

I have this caricature hanging on my wall, maybe you've seen it:

It shows someone listening to the phone, and the caption at the bottom says:

"...Thank you for calling. Please leave a message. In case I forget to check my message, please send your message as an audio file to my Email, then send me a fax to remind me to check my Email, then call back to remind me to check my fax..."

This isn't modern communication [oh no, off topic]

In the 1500's the Spanish sailed into the Gulf of Mexico & landed. The sailors asked the local inhabitants what the name of their country was. the reply "Yucatan". The Spanish moved farther down the coast & asked the question again, same reply "Yucatan".

In the Mayan language Yucatan means "We Don't Understand You".

The name stuck that part of the Gulf of Mexico is still known as the Yucatan Peninsula

I've heard that the word "kangaroo" has similar origins.

European Visitor: "My, what's that big bouncy thing over there?"

Native Aussie: "Kangaroo! (I don't know what you're saying!)"
