Can We as Engineers Find a More Humane Way to Execute People?

I have to say for me this is not a question I tackle with any enthusiasm. There are some considerations that we are asked to take as engineers that are sometimes truly unpalatable.

I know of a inhumane way to kill people.... Lock them up with my girlfriend and let her talk them to death. Perhaps supplying the criminal with several tools to do the job himself before they are actually chatty chatted to death by my better half... oh my I miss read that, not an INhumane way.. Ok... quick fix let her take her top off while doing this, <("<) <( " )> (>")> Damn I crack myself up 8).. oh shoot she's behind me.. fairwell cruel world!

Whether as engineers or otherwise, it is a question which is imprudent to ask, especially for engineers. So the "answer" would be: that in such a question lies its own answer...only one (of the two) of which has existed, or will exist, for all time.

Obligation of the Engineer.

The engineering way, to be totaly professional, has to be clean, quick and at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately maybe politicians and judges as well as prison officials will carry this through, but the engineer is the provider and backroom mover. After all engineers are voters too and provide the means for that as well.
