Websites - How to Get visitors

12/12/2008 6:33 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am currently waiting on a confirmation email to join CR4. I am writing because I have just bought a website and I am trying to find the best ways to get people to my site. I want to draw in some traffic. I make machines and I want to see if there is any kind of interest. Can someone please give me some tips and or tricks as to how to promote my site. Also, if you guys could give me some tips and or tricks on how to optimize my website for better search engine results it would mean a lot to me. Thank you.

Sit very quietly. Wait. Soon you'll be in the future 2 minutes from now.

You'll need to advertise on those pay-per-click website. You'll also need to get an autoresponder account to notify you if you get any response. Once you do, reply immediately, and most important of all, compile a respondents' list, and keep in touch with them regularly.

Mugabe of Zimbabwe has one but it does not help him a bit. He is running out of zero space.

Greetings:

You should log onto CR4 "workbench-creations" This site might be of greater interest to you ; http://cr4.globalspec.com/blog/40/Workbench-Creations

Checking your website it would appear that you are casting aluminum parts, but for what?? Perhaps you have to find a need for these parts, to replace plastic, wood or ?? Finding or creating a need is the motherhood of all inventions or machines!!

Cheers Gary

Hello Kevin,

The Marketing can be sight specific, much like you don't talk to the president like you do a child.

It seems like you posted a link earlier, Was it the home plastic molding? Up from a nap and not quite firing on all eight yet.

One thing I can suggest right off is finding a similar group that has a web ring. For an example a model makers group, an RC (remote control) scratch builders Group, A proto-typing group.

If the ring of links already is saturated with your competition and you are not significantly a better system find another group. You can not stand out in a crowd of clones unless you are a master at marketing. And if you are a Marketing master you are selling the wrong product

Look for others of parallel direction (the types that would attract users of your product) not the same direction (Competition). If you like what you see join their ring, if you find a vacuum fill it by creating a link ring. By pooling your marketing you multiply your exposure not just add to it.

Just an Idea

Brad

Hi Kevin,

Am interested to know what do you manufacture. We are group of companies, and our branch in Saudi Arabia might need those machines.

One of our activities is specializing in web design. Please contact Erex N. Solar<ens@sgei.com> for your website requirement.

Cheers

Google for "Search Engine Optimization" and apply the principles

Put some posts discussion forums with link to your site. It will make the search robots work quickly.

Don't put too many keywords

Title 60 characters maximum with the keyword twice in it is perfect

Description 250 chars max with keywoord 3 times

www.widexl.com en then metatag analyser

Re: Websites - How to Get visitors

You do not need a great number of people on the site as you only have 20 machines to sell, getting 1000 orders right now will actually give you a problem....(s)

My view is first sell the 20 and then decide on whether or not as to what you are going to do:-

1) Use the profits from the first 20 to make the next 50,

OR

2) Stop producing as there have been too many problems generated from the first 20 sales!

If you eventually decide to go with 1) above, then you must make sure that the list of "HIT" words on your website covers every possible angle to do with the business. Even far fetched ones....

Keep a notepad or a voice recorder with you at all times to not any ideas that come to you while driving, sitting on the toilet or whatever.......implement those ideas immediately....write them down for future reference if they go first on a voice recorder.

Make proper and full backups of your business data in such a way that you can get a new computer up and running with all your business data with a couple of hours at the worst.

Keep NO backups on the computer itself.

Keep at least another full backup in a different location to your business, a cheap cash box that only you have the key, in the house of a close friend or family member of Bank.

If you use CDs, use high quality re-writeables, keep away from heat and light when not in use, make sure that NEITHER THE TOP OR BOTTOM CAN GET SCRATCHED. Either in the box or the CD Drive......

Make sure that VERIFY is activated in your CD writing software....

Check that the data is fully readable yourself on another PC/CD drive.

Remember to keep at least 3 versions of your data in each location - Grandfather, Father, Son principle multiplied by the number of copies held, at least x 2....

Keep data on a separate hard disk to the one for the operating system. A USB disk drive of the best quality is a good move......

If I wrote anything you did not fully understand, please let me know and we can clear that up "offline" if you wish......

Not having enough time for any of the above WILL bite you in the backside one day.....I am speaking as a person who had to organize the data for large corporations during my working life, I have had a large amount of experience of other people's failures in this area. Loss of company data usually results in the company going bankrupt within one year, sometimes sooner......

I voted GA to Andy Germany and Randolph Toom. I carry an aluminum sided pocket notebook to write down my ideas. It came with a small pen, which I promptly lost, so I always carry a pen or pencil. I had too many instances where I had the most wonderful idea, but was unable to recall it when I got home.

You and me both!!! I could NEVER understand how I could forget such OBVIOUS ideas before I got home!!!

A cheap battery dictation tape recorder has proved to be the best as I can use it while driving...Walmart many, many years ago and it still works fine.....

We both have been there and got the T-shirt too I suspect!!!!

Your web site has already been referred by you in one of the threads. It seems that this site is made up by you and it needs professional touch up to make it more attractive. For all this you will have to invest money on the marketing of the product which is quite expensive in initial stages for small inventor like you. Other way to get free publicity is to introduce it as new machine in the forums and technical magazines by sending write ups along with photograph.

I am assuming you didn't publish your own site

A couple of things you can do without the aid of the person who made your website,

first open your site find a bare area and right click on view source, check the section that has the heading title, see if that is what you want the computer to look for, below that look at meta name, see if those are the types of subject you are trying to convey.

If your site person is cooperative you might want to change the domain name (URL) to something more specific as to the product offered. Also find out from the author how you can get access to the site statistics, if he has used a good web host the site statistics will give you data on how many hits are coming in on search engines etc.

Mr Regan,

I have heard of this tool from Google, although I have not used it myself yet. My understanding of it is that you can track who is visiting your site (anonymously; based on geography, number of hits, etc), to better understand who to tailor it to. Its worth a check, in my opinion. I just haven't got around to it yet.

Best of luck with the new site.

Hey guys,

I am the guest that posted this thread. Thank you for all the great information. I will be sure to go through all of them. As to one of the threads unfortunately I am the author of the site. I scripted it with html over the past 3 days. Thank you guys for the links to other resources. My site includes website tracking, which is a great resource that i am learning more about. The trick now is to get people to the actual site. I will take a look into what you guys said, and I will post my results. When I get some activity. I also bought a book on it and I am trying to do some site optimization. For those of you who wanted me to contact you I will shortly as there are a lot of responses to this post.

Thanks again,

Kevin

I noticed a couple typos on the site you might want to fix. Gotta come off looking like a pro before I'd buy anything. You've got a start, I hope the best for you and all your endeavors.

Hi There,

an easy way to enhance your web traffic is to exchange advertising or web linking with similar web page owners.

I am interested in a link exchange!

www.canstampconsulting.com, contact me at sales@canstampconsulting.com

If you do get a lot of traffic, don`t hesitate to contact me to ponder some mass production ideas.

Mirco.

I am considering putting together a web site for my antenna business. In addition to having a catalog of standard products, I will include a series of technical and application notes which are antenna related. Even if Joe Customer does not need an antenna, he will tell his friends about the ap notes which will bring more hits to the site... and some of them might need antennas.

I wonder if Joe Customer is any relation to Joe the Plumber...

Sincerely

Bill
