Can you elaborate a bit more? Which online calculator do you have in mind?

I want to calculate weights of plates , tubes , angles , channels of metals like MS , SS, Brass , Copper , Aluminium etx for the pirpose of fabrication of structures

W = ρV.

Granted, V can be the hard part.

Find a chart that gives the weight per length of different shapes.

Why not just use the chart Lyn suggested in a spreadsheet?

Tables and charts are very good for a design office , but for a man on the move , a calculator in a mobile or a laptop is more convenient

And how, exactly, would you propose that such a "software", if it indeed exists would work?

You are being unrealistic in your wants. Such a "software" does not exist.

You can contact some metals suppliers or look at Matweb, but I do not intend to do the search for you.

Since you are a "man on the move" and have a phone, call a supplier when you need such information and ask them.

Several apps out there for an android to do what you want. Then there is Excel or open office to create a data base to do the calculations for you.

Have you found the apps for Anroid such as Kingsoft (and quite a few others) that allow word documents in cell phones? One could prefer spreadsheets with "standard" shapes also, and just plug in the length, given the "standards" would have all the same thicknesses or wall thicknesses. Might be a time saver in the field.
