Looks like a big animal horn to me (the glass coffee table it is resting on helps give it some scale).

Amphisbaenidae slither and squirm,

Though these squamates aren't snakes,

It's a very long marrow (one of the squash family).

I have no idea if this vegetable (in the culinary sense rather than the botanical sense) has a different name in the States.

I do like the way the gardener has directed its growth...it looks quite like a snake. 8/10 for artistic impression.

It was introduced to me as a snake squash - also known as snake gourd. (I used it at a Halloween party this year - it was a good conversation piece.)

Many people guessed correctly so I won't list the names this week.
