Ventilation Fan Inrush Current

Hi,

Can you help me for finding inrush current for a 40 W ventilation fan its operating voltage is 230 and current is 0.17 A.

Measure the terminal resistance and divide it into the supply voltage.

That's True for DC Motors. In locked rotor condition Inductance don't go to zero for AC Operated motors so the inductive reactance. Its the impedance that will replace resistance

The original poster did not state whether it was direct or alternating current therefore #2↑ is correct.

I have to ask...this is such a tiny load, are you actually asking so you can put a current protecting relay on it , an alarm indicator?

If manufacturer cannot give,connect a power analyser or analog clamp on meter,switch on the fan and check inrush,starting and running currents.

No I cannot help you.

You must help yourself.

I suggest a test proceedure... hook up a fan to a tester of some sort. A volt-ohm meter that will record the value of a spike, or an occiloscope...but the best would be a rotating drum indicator.
