These beachgoers are taking the phrase "face an obstacle headfirst" way too literally.

Don't worry Juanita, the tide's going out, not in! (I am feeling a tad claustrophobic though)

Our big sister sure was happy to play in the sand with us. I hope she's not still mad about posting her diary on facebook.

Sis, we're ready to get out now. Sis....SIS!

Some of the wave energy ideas are as bad as some guest ideas on how to plug the leak.

Reuters: Researchers today discovered a possible "missing link" in mankind's genetic legacy. Small humanoids, otherwise fully formed, but no brains whatsoever, apparently have crawled out of the surf and dug themselves into the sand for protection against predators. Researchers note the lack of gills, and believe this is proof positive that they are possibly the ubiquitous 'missing link'. They say that their DNA is enough like humans to be 99% sure they could have been a remote ancestor of ours. Enthusiasts have nicknamed them the "missing knowitall tweenagers', based on their instinctive shopping skills and high frequency squealing sounds.

The procedure does have a few flaws to work out but my lawyer assures me that if all we do is supply the bucket and shovel to family members, we won't be held responsible like Kevorkian.

Quite apart from humor (though I don't mind some humor), I would like to see a follow-up on what happened. The water would submerge these kids for several seconds, but if they noticed it coming, a deep breath beforehand and closing the eyes would probably succeed in protecting them. The outwash would have higher velocity than the inwash.

What happened next..
The guy closed Photoshop and went to have his dinner.

If it is a genuine pic then it's probably just foreshortened...one of those optical delusions. (That's an intentional Malapropism, for those who think I mag be an iggorant kat)

You're probably right. But it is conceivable that a "rogue wave" or tsunami could produce a sudden unanticipated event like this. With alert response, the kids might be able to ride it out. In the event that this was a real rather than staged picture, I would still remain curious about the outcome.

Hmm tough call...do I rescue the kids or take the picture?
Hmmm, now where did I put the camera.
I got knocked over by a wave when I was a little 'un, I was paddling back towards the beach. My Dad scooped me up..he never took a pic tho' .
It wasn't until we moved near the coast and I learned to swim that I realised what the big grey circles that I'd seen were.
They were bubbles...
I'm still v respectfull of water...
