How to Walk on Water

Posted May 14, 2010 8:37 AM

From Coolest Gadgets:

The first time I saw this image of a man walking on the water, I just assumed it was a special effect. There is a video of it after the jump, and it's either a grandiose hoax or the next extreme sport. I can't help but want to believe that it is the latter.

I have a similar photo somewhere.

The tree or shrub is on the real edge, The dam or pond is overflowing, and the water rises above the full level Mark.

Due to the small slope of the land it is actually only covered with a few mm of water.

Therefore you won't sink even if you wanted to.

I wish this was a video, but I guess one doesn't need too much of an imagination to know how its going to end

Cool advert for some nice shoes. Even if the video is fake or edited, it is an effective way of getting your product out to millions of viewers.

The green basilisk can do this:

http://naturescrusaders.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/green-basilisk-lizards-eat-insects-rodents-and-runs-on-water/

The faster you can impact water, the "harder" it is. These guys couldn't maintain staying above water for around a dozen steps. Sometimes they sank right away. This would seem to indicate that there is some technique to this - that unless your feet impact the water in a certain way, it doesn't "work".

Anyway, I'm just going by what the video shows, my sound is out on this computer.

Here in Panama, we call the basilisk the "Jesus Lizard" because it can, and frequently does, run across bodies of water. I have watched them frequently, but never got to the point of trying to figure out how they do it...I don't think, however, that most of them are wearing designer shoes...

I once saw an exhibition in which a water skier did so with his bare feet, but it took something like 45 mph (~72 km/h) to do it.
