1,000,000th CR4 Comment Posted

Posted February 10, 2014 11:00 AM

Since 2004, CR4 has been a community for people interested in engineering, science, and technology to converse and share ideas. On February 10, 2014 at 10:28 AM EST, Tom Consulting posted the one millionth comment to CR4.

From one-word comments such as "GA" in support of another user to lengthy responses that require a person to page down several times to read, CR4 has been a sounding board, a research tool, and its own kind of social network.

CR4's reach continues to expand! CR4 posts were integrated into IHS Goldfire in 2013. IHS Goldfire is used to search existing information to find answers, not just links to documents. Recently, a company considering the expansion of its products into new markets came across a method that would reduce its expenses significantly. It found that idea by searching IHS Goldfire and reading a CR4 thread!

A big thanks goes out to all of you who participate in CR4. Without you and your ideas, knowledge, and expertise, there'd be no community.

And Tom, we'll be in touch about your prize for posting a great 1,000,000th comment!

Will we be getting invitations to the awards ceremony and gala event afterparty? Will there be an open bar?

PlbMak is already on it. There's a minibus heading out from Kings Lynn, picking people up along the way. English Rose has made sandwiches for the trip and Kris is supplying the beer. How Yuval is going to get there from Israel is a little uncertain at this time...

Congrats also to CR4 for providing a place for such a community. And to you Lyn. Do you realize if there are 1,000,000 posts, you have contributed 2.5674%.

Wow that is an achievement and has enabled Tom Consulting to be the millionth. Asking him for at least a six pack to share should be OK.

First of all, I would like to thank my fans. Without them none of this would be possible.

Also, I need to thank my fellow cast members. It is truly a group award. Without them this would not happen.

I would also like to thank my wife for putting up with me during the long hours these projects take.

And to my parents and family. Without their constant encouragement, and support I would surely have given up before this.

Never mind I thought for sure I would be the winner.

Well thank you CR4 even though I really had little to do with it. I just happened to be the one that hit enter when the counter rolled to a million. I find CR4 to be stimulating, entertaining, educational, a source of making new acquaintances and at times somewhat frustrating. But I look forward to another million posts to read. Thanks for being here!

So was that 1 million posts including the ones from threads that were deleted or not including those threads?

Just curious as to how the counting was done?
