No offence to country and Western fans, but I'd have driven the thing clear over a cliff. Duet with Tammy, and I'd not even survive to look at it.

Top funny pun ! . Well worth a GA for quick thinking and humour.

Do you not mean Tonka ? If only I could recall the slogan. 'lego' isn't far off when translated.

Tonka's slogan is 'Tonka Tough'

Lego, in the original Scandinavian (if I'm remembering the the country correctly) means 'Play well,' however, the same word in Latin means 'I build.'

Cool info.

I once had a 'Johny 7 gun', and busted my elder sisters Cindy car. Ya can't do that with GI Joe and Barbie .

I beg to differ - 'we've got real tough toys, for real tough boys'. Perhaps things were diff erent in Blighty.

I'll concede on 'Lego', it was one of those top of my head things.

You've just aced a great topic - favourite toys as a kid. Post that as a question and I'm game for it. Anybody mentioning Meaccano must go sit on the naughty step for at least 3 days.

Don't trust Google for everything.

Also, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story for the kids.

You give them Lego bricks to play with, and they ask what the word 'lego' means. It's a lot more inspiring to tell them that it means 'Play well' in Scandinavian, and also 'I build' in Latin.

There's a bit more on the history of Lego on wikipedia and on their own website, but I need to take care of lunch right now, don't have time to do the legwork myself at the moment.

It may be a good story, but nevertheless the most common meaning of the Latin "lego" is "I read". Alternative meanings include "I despatch", "I choose as deputy", "I collect", "I peruse". It has never meant "I build", for which the Latin is "aedifico" (whence "edifice") or "construo" (whence "construe" and "construction").

Well on the bright side, since it it fell off it does not need to be taken off to repair so that has halved the labour cost already..... now to get it to the garage.....

I miss my motorcycle. I guess I shouldn't do the jumps with these big trucks.

Who is going around marking posts OT? Even those strictly on-topic?

I thought these 'Caption This' threads were supposed be light-hearted and fun, not a pool for some sourpuss to wade through and piss in.

Remove your OTs please.

I don't see any axle grease on the ground! This guy should be cleared of all charges as evidence points to lack of maintenance.
