Hey you hippies, that there is a sewer line.

Re: Caption This for 02/13/15

This is about as funny as the 'Caption This' that featured a bombed out Syria.

I'd PM'd expressing my views and saying I'd not say anything, but I can't stop running my mouth.

Regular viewers will recall the lamentable picture that was retracted a few months ago. Weaving some smutty inuendo into a clip from a film is hardly funny. Oh, the bloke on the right is dry humping the woman ? ffs, I've seen stuff posted to forum that is less blatent and has been deleted (with people toasted by admin).

I've not had a humourectomy, the picture simply is just not funny and contavenes CR4's own posting guidlines. I shall stomp off in a self rightious hissy fit and leave you all to it.tsk

Seriously, that's what you see?

Judging by the clothes this looks like a photo from the 1970s. The person at the far right in the photo looks like a woman to me. (She's wearing a matching outfit!) The person in the plaid pants with the long hair looks like a guy (late teens). I thought this was a photo of a family - father, young son, older son and mother.

As photos go, it's not instantly funny the way some photos for the caption contest are, but it's not the worst either.

I agree with the bombed pix but I'm not sure I see what is so offensive about this picture? Some retorts perhaps are.

What I find offensive is the clothing they are wearing. Plaid bell bottoms????

I would agree with Kris except for: I think this is a legitimate relieve valve. The fluid, I assume is water, looks like it emanating from a tube or nozzle. I could think it is a pressure relief valve and the sign adjacent is warning of such unexpected spraying of water under pressure.

The 'leak' is located at a concrete support bunker which would identify its location for maintenance and the runoff is in a naturally draining 'ditch'.

This may be more benign that what appears at first glance.

The location of the relief also makes sense: at the bottom of vertical column before directional change to horizontal, makes sense to me. Besides it looks hot out, give them the benefit of the doubt.

I think this is actually the penstock of a hydroelectric generating plant. It comes from uphill at the dam, and runs down to the actual plant to feed the generator(s), with the altitude change providing the "head" for the system. I have seen a penstock very similar to this constructed of wooden slats (like barrel staves). For the most part, the water caused the wood to swell and it held water pretty well, but occasionally there would be a seam where it would leak (often spraying out like this). It had so little effect on the total water flow that it wasn't worth the effort to do anything to seal it, so the penstock had these occasional "showers" at various spots along its length.

This is a picture from approx. 1970 or 1971. My older brother took this picture when he was 9 years old, a really good shot for a young man!

If someone is offended then they need not look or PM me spewing venom about my family!

This picture is from our family album when we were camping in the California desert.

That's rather disingenuous - people often jump to conclusions. You're free to quote/report any PM I've sent you, not that I recall anything fitting the description given.

The only constructive thing we can do is avoid each others posts.
