I notice that many times you reply to a photo with a photo.

While many times a 'picture is worth a thousand words' it is almost like answering a question with a question. I appreciate your insight and knowledge, but sometimes your posts leave me with no idea what is going on.

Perhaps because I am too stupid to understand your communications?

My next guess was gonna be the Oroville Dam, guess that is wrong too. That's what I get for following the O.P.'s history......

I don't see any Cyrillic text nor bits and pieces of the Venera lander. So unless this is an artistic representation I don't believe this is from Venus.

None of the few public domain pictures I've found from the Venera landers show a horizon. I believe the Soviets expected the thick cloud cover to mask any horizon line. I suspect you found and then cropped a misfiled Martian image.

Re: where is this?

The earth's atmosphere acts like a very weak prism, refracting light slightly downward. The atmosphere of Venus acts very much stronger in that at an altitude below a critical refraction altitude of about 35 km, the curvature of a ray of light would exceed the curvature of the planet. (At the critical altitude, a ray of light would orbit the planet until it is absorbed!)

So if you could see far enough, from the surface of Venus, it would appear that you were at the bottom of a gigantic bowl.

Here is yours:

A google search came up with this:

http://www.imgbase.info/images/safe-wallpapers/space/planet/50544_planet_mars_surface.jpg

They look the same to me.

So, one is right and one is wrong (unless Curiosity got around a lot more than advertised ).

Re: where is this?

It's not Venus. We do not have a rover on Venus. Venus atmosphere is so hostile that our probes can only last around 30 mins. (Depending on the test) the surface temperature is hotter than the melting point of lead (875f). Although the atmosphere is mostly CO2 it is 90x the pressure of earth, and there is a heavy layer (actually several) of several kilometers thick of sulfuric acid. There is NO visible light on the surface of Venus.

What eclipse?

The moon would only get one type of eclipse - when the Earth occludes the Sun. I hadn't thought of that before. Researching...

When we have a lunar eclipse, the moon has a solar eclipse. All of their "terran" eclipses when there is a solar eclipse somewhere on earth are, of course, partial.

Well, if the Arizona guess is correct, I have to ask if there is a "Hell" there? I know there is one in Michigan, Germany, and the Caymen Islands, but this certainly isn't any of those locations.

Bugs says, "Hmm....a....could be! That's all folks!" Chomps on freshly plucked carrot, while stepping off into the pyongyang sunset, oh snap, that is just pyongyang itself.

I understand the new name in 100,000 years after things settle down a bit will be:

Ping-Pong Ying....for balance to be yet restored.
