Has Del been scrumping ? There's still lots of Blackberries about (especially down the West End). Lashings of custard is a must ! I just gave Bricktop an award for cooking endeavour in the Newsletter Challenge, so it only seems fair you should have one.

We can have Bricky's onion soup for starters (as long as he doesn't put croutons in it - yuck)

Great thread, wish I had of found it sooner. I live in the Canadian Arctic and I am lucky to be blessed with many opportunities for great shots. Here are a few. Originals were much larger and have been shrunk for this medium. Camera is a Nikon D40X.

Sylvia Grinnell river valley in Iqaluit, Nunavut, just after sunset.

Glaciers and river valleys... near Clyde River, Nunavut.

A friends Garden in Eastern Ontario, Canada.

From the same garden.

Looking for lunch?

Fiord near Pond Inlet, Nunavut.

Same fiord.

A small section of Pond Inlet, Nunavut.

A "real" sled dog, taken in the "West 40" section of Iqaluit, Nunavut.

A young lad enjoying a warm spring day near Apex, Nunavut.

Land's End, Pangnirtung, Nunavut.

Mother and son, our daughter and grandson, Tarrah and Connor ar rhe visitors center in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

"Snug as a bug in a rug", Connor in his mother's amautai.

Landfall... East coast of Baffin Island. Next stop... Greenland.

Life is so determined... water fall at Apex, Nunavut.

Another view...

Thanks for the opportunity to share...

Re: Idyllic Photos from CR4ers

This June, most of our winds came from the south. This causes the ice that comes off of the Greenland shelf to blow up into Frobisher Bay. This is a rather rare event. Makes for some interesting shots.

At the end of the "causeway" that goes nowhere.

The ice blows in further during high tide then gets hung up on land when the tide is out. Iqaluit has the second highest tides in the world, 11m, and higher, tides are common. As well, when the wind is from the south, the tides go even higher as the level in the bay goes up as well.

The ice is rather iridescent.

Shows the size of some of the chunks.

One of the early "sealift" boats. Everything comes in by plane or boat. We normally get 9 sailings a year. This year, thanks to the ice, we only got 5-6. Sealift is waited on with high anticipation by all.

This fellow is chopping ice for use in making tea. Supposed to be the best water there is for it.

Spring in South-West Germany, 7 months ago, in an abandoned quarry.

Wild cherries.

Magnolias at our house.
