What is Least Likely to Happen in 2011?

01/01/2011 12:56 AM

1. Lindsay Lohan wins a Nobel Peace Prize 2. Rob Schneider gets nominated for an Oscar 3. NASA makes contact with space aliens 4. Brett Favre retires 5. Cubs make it to the World Series 6. Full body scan or full body pat down? 7. Health Care bill repealed. 8. Anything truly productive happens in D.C. 9. US Government doesn't borrow money. 10. Farmers stop griping about how much their new pickups cost. Cats learn to use matches #34 I win a million bucks in a legitimate lottery (as opposed to the Nigerian Lottery, which I've already won a half-dozen times) Global warming ideas

The end of the earth, because that isn't scheduled until 2012.

That NSW wins the State of Origin Series against Queensland which NSW have lost 5 years in a row.

Beware of the fluke! Past performance is no guarantee of future results! You might need some horseradish on that hat, and a pair of scissors to help chop it up.

Actually several, and some of them are pretty grungy. I'm probably setting myself up for a drubbing in Oz bookmaking; hell, I don't even know if these guys are playing futbol, beisbol, badminton, or croquet. May the worst team win, for a change!

1. Peace breaks out all over the world.

2. CIA, FBI, NSA and all acronyms are consequently disbanded. Staff join salvation army.

3. Corruption disappears in India.

4. All guests disappear from CR4.

Is there some reason to hold the current administration to a higher standard that any of the others? Has there been any administration since the beginning of this country that has not used creative presentation techniques, to put their position on various topics in the best possible light?

There will be no new discussions on CR4 about GA's/UFO's ?

Personally I feel that GA's are worthy of discussion, and do deserve earnest attention. Some years back I got a GA and.... blabber blabber blabber....

It's rumoured that Prince Charles will renounce any desire to be king, and several bankers have refused to collect their bonus of grounds of ethics/morality. I'm going to give up cigs, and will also tackle the job of re-fitting the 'restroom'. I'd continue, but I must go and deal with all the mail that looks official (after I've gone over to give the MIL a New Year's kiss and hug) .

People on CR4 will;

carefully read posts

remember who said what

think logically

not bring God into it

not have 'hissy fits'

post relevant links

accept equality of spirit and diversity in knowledge

SOME OF THEM EVEN MAKE IT BOLD AND UNDERLINE IT.

Worse yet, some also italicize it.

one more reply, we might get somewhere in combating pollution and in conservation of our natural resources with by supplementing and complementing fossil fuels in the alternate energy field within the USA: http://chtank.org/chaps.htm.

1. The LHC really simulates primordial conditions and inadvertently creates a new universe.

2. Scientists successfully create life from scratch in the laboratory.

3. Pharmaceutical corporations decide to make all of their unpublished medical research data available on the internet.

4. Monsanto and other GMO developers renounce patents on lifeforms.

5. Piezoelectric cars developed to replace gas and hybrids.

6. UFO abductees gain control of a fleet of alien ships and become the overlords of our little planet.

7. Climate change converges with the existing chaos math, making weather forecasts accurate!

7. Banks decide to wipe out all records of debt at the end of 2011, to commemorate the mayan calendar change. They deal everyone a fresh line of credit, turning fears of apocalypse into a celebration and the wildest ever orgy of overspending.

7. In the interests of brevity, all lists made in 2011 will contain no more than 7 items.

The 8 out of ten morons who vote for the two primary parties, will realise that their Nazi leaders by the 30 percent tax income, own 30 percent of all the energy companies and will never give up trillions in income for free green energy. and after 100 years of stupidity finally vote for "anyone else"

-Weather forecasts will be accurate for more that an few hours.

-Man made Global Warming proponents Will deliver, solid empirical evidence that we did it.

-Those same people start to practice what they preach. Lose the mega homes and the SUV's and go live in a hut. That means you Al Gore and David Suzuki.

-When some thing major happens in the world, the media will stop asking dim witted actors, hack authors and so called music stars what they think. Instead they will consult some one, who at least has some knowledge of the subject. Not to mention they actually can point out the country on a map.

-Various groups in the world will realize that killing each other has not really worked out, and decide it is time to talk rationally, and make compromises.

-This is the big one: The Toronto Maple Leafs will actually win the Cup!

The last one sent me into a fit of laughing.

There are a few who are trying to do something about their beliefs aside from just talking about it and pointing fingers. See http://chtank.org. The solid evidence is already presented but a few will still maintain the earth is flat and the center of the universe, too.

I never stated that all people were not walking the walk.

A lot of people, my self included, do what we can with what we have to reduce any negative emission's of any type.

I use the simple mantra of reduce, recycle and reuse. This is simplistic common sense.

Us too, in the US. Hence the Tea Party response. I'm neither of the parties, and I can't find a "Green" that I can stand with, but the Tea Party desire seems to be "Do it by the Constitution, and nothing else, least of all Active Construction of the Constitution". And I can get behind that, all the way!

Emotional sob stories about how tough that makes life for so many notwithstanding, life is tough, and I am willing (shoot, I do now) to take up my part of the burden of caring for the truly needy. How does giving away more than 20% of my income to help others sound? And, yep, I'm a conservative. But NOT any longer a Republican.

BTW, anybody catch the US Senate's reaction to the November 2010 elections? The Republicans (Of all people, they are closest to the Tea Party. Unless one counts those, like me, who identify ourselves directly WITH the Tea Party!). The US Senate's reaction was one of disdain for the stupid people who just don't get it.

Well, news for youse, guys. YOU didn't get it. But that's only cause you didn't have enough seats on the block to feel the pinch. And we're coming up right behind you. A lot of you will be polishing up your resumes (how does one write "sucking at the public trough" on one's resume, and make it sound like a GOOD thing?)

I think the only kind of "public servants" who won't disappoint the electorate are the ones who go into office scared, and stay scared. It's time they got scared.

And, yes, I know the "Tea Party" is not a "Party", in that it has no stated platform, and no organization leading it (unless you count the groundswell leadership of folks like Hannity and Limbaugh, but only Hannity got resoundingly behind the Tea Party. Limbaugh jumped the shark, taking the Old Establishment (with Nose in the Air) line, and roundly denounced most of what the Tea Party did or stood for. Nonetheless, I am for the one thing that rang throughout the Tea Party Rallies, which is "Get back to the business we put you there for, those of you who still can. Those of you who are too late, well, it's too late for you. You're OUTTA HERE!"

End of rant. My apologies to all those too tired to read it, bored with it, or not from around here. I live too close to "Inside the Beltway" and tend to forget that we get pretty rabid about stuff the rest of the World, and a lot of the rest of the US, can't get excited about. Sorry. New Year's Resolution. I'll try to do better at controlling my rant.

The Tea Baggers don't stand for anything!

all the nonsense about the constitution is diversionary tactics to cover up this

We are following the constitution, there has been a well defined method for modification of the constitution since the beginning

I have been an independent since I began voting after I turned 18

sometimes I've voted libertarian, american independent, natural law, green, republican, democratic & some others I don't remember

I have rarely been on the winning side, but that doesn't stop me from participating in every election

No idea why you think you are "giving away" 20% of your income, this sounds like some BS neocon talking point, with no basis in reality

government steps in when there is a void [epa, labor laws, anti trust....] Government isn't especially efficient, but privatization hasn't proven to be very successful either.

the republicans have been successful in convincing people to vote against their interests, getting all excited about minor issues like: Death Tax, gay marriage, abortion

gay marriage

I wish it would be called Gayriage and not be corrected, picked up by the spell check and become part of any dictionary. That is very unlikely, I know , just a suggestion.

I thought about this some years ago and this is the first time I use this new word.

What do you gays guys think?

Gayridge is the way we would pronounce it here, like in maridge. Anyway it's not gonna happen and this is what this thread is about, "the least likely to happen".

You are right though, what other people do with the genitalia is non of my business and what I do with mine is my business and my partners, if so inclined.

Love is, Ky.

Gayriage, civil union, Marriage [gay or otherwise], I could care less who's bumping which uglies with whom [unless of course I'm one of the potential participants, then I do have certain requirements]

Re: What is Least Likely to Happen in 2011?

01/03/2011 8:18 PM

Well, Garthh, you know nothing of me. So let me give you this. I give away, directly to people in need (no neocon BS here, we're talking about feeding the homeless, paying bills to keep people fed, that sort of stuff, which a liberal like YOU ought to be happy to see a conservative like me [voted that way all of my 56 years, minus the ones when I wasn't old enough to vote] doing). After all, you are evidently convinced that only idiots can be conservatives, and that it takes idiots to buy the Republican sales pitch. Could be. I don't buy their pitch. I'll get excited about the things I care to get excited about, and no blow-hard politician is going to drive my thinking.

Which brings me to another thing about me you wouldn't know, if I didn't choose to tell you. I grew up in Pollock Pines (13 Miles up the mountain from Hangtown, if you know where that is), and Sacramento, and San Jose and parts all around the Bay Area. But here's the kicker. During the Viet Nam war (which I don't think we should have been in, but that's another story entirely) my draft number was so HIGH I knew they wouldn't call me. So I joined the Navy, married my fiance, and then my new wife and I went off to serve THE USA for 9 years.

And we both still believe California is a good place to be FROM. And you just proved the point, one more time, with your mindless rant about someone you don't even know, with all your name-calling.

I'm glad to be in a conservative state like Virginia. 30 years glad. Keep California!! And recognize, if you are able, that the Tea Party ISN'T Republican, NOR Democrat. In fact it includes people from every party you ever heard of. Because it isn't about an established party, and the Elephants hate us just as much as the Jack-Asses do.

If WE THE PEOPLE were actually being governed by people who behaved according to the constitution, we would have had a health care bill if WE THE PEOPLE had wanted it. WE THE PEOPLE would have at least a semblance of a "pay as you go government" with at least smattering of thing any of us could have favored, instead of a thrown together mish-mash of riders and appropriations for the political good of a few. But we haven't. Know why? Because we aren't governed according to a Representative Constitutional process (Remember why it's called the House of Representatives? Know what they are supposed to Represent? Know why there are so many of them, compared to the Senate? Do you know what the Senate is supposed to represent, and from what each is SUPPOSED to derive their powers? Let me give you a hint. They are BOTH supposed to derive their powers from aspects of their STATE character. Nothing their about Federal Power, is there?).

No, we DON'T do things according to the Constitution. And Elena Kagan doesn't intend that we ever should, either. Nor does Obama, nor, to be fair, a whole raft on both sides of "The Aisle". The intent of most politicians is that we should do whatever gets them re-elected. And that is the only "Constitutional" change they want. Any of them. Bottom line, nothing else matters. Particularly not the will of the electorate.

Good rant

lots of personal attacks,

conjecture of what you imagine my beliefs to be

Everyone is free to judge for themselves what the Tea Party stands for

or should I say against, I don't see one thing they are for...

Here's a prominent statement from the site

A community committed to standing together, shoulder to shoulder, to protect our country and the Constitution upon which we were founded!

What does this mean? is there some date after which the constitution wasn't followed?

Or what talking points from Hannity [or other Fox news commentator], has lead you to believe our newest supreme court justice, is not going to follow the constitution?

Wasn't Hannity or any of his crowd. Was the Supe herself. Can't understand the constitution unless you are a "wise Latina" (her words, in quotes). Wise is useful for anyone in their position, but what's Latina (or any other culture/race/gender/etc.) got to do with it? I thought the Supreme Court represented America. And last I checked it included us all. She obviously doesn't.

You're taking one thing she wrote, out of the reams she has written, without any context & basing your "opinion" of her on this one sentence.....

we as a nation [or region or state or county or township or neighborhood] can promote or dissuade any behavior with what we tax & how we regulate.

Government regulates to fill a void. we have things like labor laws & environmental regulation, to counter the [semi] free markets myopic quest for short term gains

Bureaucracies tend to self perpetuate, without regard to the efficiency of the overall system. Additional layers get added [see education] instead of more comprehensive restructuring, that will more fully utilize the tools [information technology] available

Agreed (admitted, where more appropriate) on all points. But nowhere in anything she said, or in any judicial rendering in her earlier days, did she in any way repudiate that view. She often supported it. On that basis, I see that she hasn't changed her mind, and she doesn't fit any mold that supports a rock-solid constitutional (or Federalist, if you prefer) foundation. As such, I stand on my previous statements.

None of that changes my agreement that we need to remake our entire bloated bureaucracy, with a very strong eye to shrinking it, everywhere. And our education system stinks, by any standard involving success. You'll get no argument from me there, at all.

Garthh, you didn't go to school in CA did you? Well be that as it may the attention to the constitution by our elected officials was corrupted at about the time the Manhattan project was completed; err... or after the football an switch (button)became the power subjugating the other members of the original triangle. He who has the button wins...
