There was this world famous painter. In the prime of her career, she started losing her eyesight. Fearful that she might lose her life as a painter, she went to see the best eye surgeon in the world. After several weeks of delicate surgery and therapy, her eyesight was restored. The painter was so grateful that she decided to show her gratitude by repainting the doctor's office.Part of her work included painting a gigantic eye on one wall. When she had finished her work, she held a press conference to unveil her latest work of art: the doctor's office.During the press conference, one reporter noticed the eye on the wall, and asked the doctor, "What was your first reaction upon seeing your newly painted office, especially that large eye on the wall?"To this, the eye doctor responded, "I said to myself 'I'm glad I'm not a proctologist.'"

Authorities continue a search for Bill Kilroy, after the errant artillery round from a nearby artillery range passed through his bedroom just above his head. Neighbors reported seeing him pass by carrying his dog and shouting "Incoming". Mr. Kilroy, a military veteran, is known to be suffering from a bad case of shell shock incurred during the war to end all wars.

Update: Mr. Kilroy was found at the Local VFW hall, trying to light five cigarettes at the same time.

I don't know whether to praise the album for the music, or make a comment that if it were being released today, the Moral Guardians would be in outrage over the cover art, forcing it to become Zep's "the White Album."

Yeah, naked blades wielded in anger are acceptable for public display, but not naked bodies wielded in love, or even just shown in pure innocence.

Seems like we've turned the 'make love not war' of the 60's completely on its head these days. How to we turn things around in the right direction again? Probably by getting religion out of politics to start.

If you insist, I am going to state the contrapositive: Make even more war, until we wear the "hate" out of our enemies, period. When all have been made docile, then we can resume making love, and not until then. That should be enough to motivate even a pacifist like you.

American isolationism, pacifism, and even anarchism has been tried and shown to be totally inconsistent with (1) the constitution, (2) the security of the nation and the well-being of our people, (3) our leadership role in the world, (4) the future of our children, or (5) all of the above.

I think the best answer is (5). But there again what else would a red neck war hawk think?

I was talking about American society glorifying violence and demonizing nudity, so your 'counterpoint' promoting World Domination only reinforces my point. There are also some other problems with 'beating the hate out of people,' but I won't go on about it here(1).

Why not just sit back, relax, and listen to some Zep? To keep on track with this tangent, may I recommend an album side of Houses of the Holy? Or listen to the whole album if you've got the time.

Notes:

  1. Okay, just a little. Even in America we've got groups that Hate each other for varying reasons, Americans hating Americans, how to we 'beat the hate out' there? We've got hate between:
    1. Bloods and Cryps
    2. Dems and Republicans
    3. Children of Confederate Veterans and children of former slaves
    4. Bears fans and Packers fans
    5. Cubs fans and White Sox fans
    6. Team Edward and Team Jacob
  2. When the 'enemy' is part of the greater 'us,' how do we 'beat the hate out' in a way that does not just continue the cycle of hatred? It would seem to me that hat line of thinking leads down a path where someone decided that 'the enemy' is any person who disagrees with or will not serve that person, which leads to that person setting up an elaborate secret base on a volcanic island, with 60's 'mod' style, and run one's nefarious schemes from there until the tuxedo-wearing superspy shows up to ruin things.

Re: Caption This for 10/23/15

I was more actually referring to those that are terrorists. In war, the object is to beat the hate out of the enemy, so they capitulate and say "no more please". At that point, a diplomatic solution is possible, but not until that point is reached. As far as beating the hate out of a Democrat, is that actually possible? Hmm...

I agree that both sides of the crap in the U.S. of A. need to take a deep breath, relax to some good music, be it Lead Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Charlie Pride, whatever. Maybe even hold a few community Barbeque dinners, BYOB, and run off any haters that show up before they get inebriated.

I suspect it will be latter for some, but there are only so many volcanic islands to go around, much less the fortunes to create such evil empires. Not sure even if there are enough tux wearing super spies to go around.

We do have too many who think the only life that matters is theirs. Every life is important to the Higher Power, and the greater good of all humanity rests in the sanctity of the most vulnerable of all lives, a tiny infant. It is the dragon multi-headed in the Book of Revelations what seeks to devour the child of "The Lady", the instant of its birth. Think about that passage...what could the symbolism be trying to tell us in our "modern" age?

Humanity has a tremendously long way to go before our morality catches up with our technology.

Fella who has been building nests for years out in Big Sur finally decided to settle down, and get hitched. Candidates are lining up in the streets. We are not sure if that is a woman trap, or just a nest-like entry-way.

On the bright side, he might wind up best friends with a California Condor.

For weeks Ed and Dug fed their prize pig anything the pig would eat. With the cork firmly secured, the pig began to expand, Ed and Dug won first place at the state fair, and then it occurred to them that someone would have to remove the cork.

They got the idea to train a monkey to do this, which took a few more weeks. By this time, the pig was enormous.

Later, both Ed and Dug, waking up in their hospital beds, said at the same time "What Happened?"

Dug said "I don't know, last thing I saw was the monkey trying to put the cork back in!"
