Keyboard mystery keys

07/30/2008 6:24 AM

I have a new PC at work, the Microsnot Keyboard has a row of keys across the top with stuff like 'F2 undo' and 'PrtScn SysRq Insert' written on 'em.

They appear to do very little.

I used to cut a bit of text and going 'shift+delete' and paste by going 'shift+insert' which was very quick.

The key to the right of the F12 has 'insert' on its front face but does SFA.

The damn thing doesn't even have a light to indicat if CAPS LOCK is on.

So now I have to cut and paste with the mouse which takes my paws off the keyboard..and that mousey is just sooo distracting.

Am I just a grumpy old git or is it a crock of excrement?

Del

The same can be said for UFO, its unidentified until its known what it is, so UFO's do exist

I can go with that - I've seen hundreds of unidentified aircraft (fixed wing and other varieties) - also some sticky buns that may have been of Scandinavian origin - but they went past too quickly to tell. I've also seen a Microlight with a bloke in it -I didn't recognise him. These surely all fall into the broader spectrum of 'UFO's.

(Sorry I'm wittering - I've just spent five hours driving the 200 miles back from South Devon to Reading. Also been several days without CR4).

Anyone have a Logitech Keyboard.. "Y-SQ33" ?

The DEL key is double height, taking up the INS/DEL location, you instinktevely hit "INS" and you get the upper part of DEL

The INS key is upper from the DEL bar, in the Print Screen location.

The Function keys (F1-F12) are only available when the "F-lock" is activated, this disables the INS key by the way, I'm running a old DOS program that I use the INS and Function keys quite alot, and you have to keep locking and unlocking the F-lock every time you choose the other key ;o(

Keyboard designers should suffer with their designs.
