Darn tootin' on the button there Shades...It's the result of over-unifying my tax forms for years. The result was some costly electrons coupled with a graphics program I bought for my daughter.

Thanks Sparky.

It was all over in a flash. I'll better get my act together next year. If some others would do the same, you never know what the outcome could be. I am full of hope and am waiting to be shot down, if need be. The heat seems to be getting to me. Must stop. The hunter is becoming the hunted. All the best to the lot of you.

I like the freaky artwork...
Yours?

Happy New Year one and all...I'm struggling a bit with the blues/cabin fever here.
The problem is trying to get outdoors with Mrs Cat without it being a trudge around the January sales.
Is there anything more depressing than trudging around the shops?
I expect the sun will come out...one day. <sigh>

Happy new year Del

What you define as freaky, I call 'over unity abstract surrealism'. Google "Kysley" and you can see some more. The over unity comes into it because most of my paintings are very large. It's a way to free up my mind from clutter and I suppose it looks a bit like it too.

I am hoping to present some of my inventions on CR4 but need IP protection before I do so. Not much clutter in them. See what 2009 brings.

More depressing than trudging around shops? Having SCUBA gear and still not being able to hold ones breath for long enough to get a product to the market, considering there is hardly a market left at the moment any way. See 'The Scream' below.

I think they're great Ky ! I'll definitely google your work - pester Del into showing you some of his. There's a very good thread showing GlobalSpec folks artwork somewhere. You guys ought to see if Chris will let you run an art blog on CR4.

Re: Happy New Year for 2009!

Hi Kris

I have always interpreted CR4 as a kind of art blog any way. Is it not an art form to engineer some thing? If it then works and does what it's supposed to do, is that not the highest form of art. Pretty and entertaining pictures/objects are so pleasing on the eye, be they applied by brush or made with tools or materials of what ever kind.

Before I picked up the skill of CAD drawing/animation I did drawings and paintings of prototypes. This not only helped me visualize but others could see what I was thinking or suggesting. Usually, if it looked good, it worked and cutting too many corners made it un-stable or just plain ugly.

The "Music" hidden in good engineering takes some expertise to recognize and I wish I could be as analytic as some masters of the trade. I take a bit longer but can hear/see a dissonance if there is one. Not all the time but that is were obsession sets in and she is the driving force.

Del's little bow was not his first attempt, I bet, and he started his second because he could see that his first was not "beautiful" enough. With beauty comes function or some thing like that.

CR4 has Art galore. No art's blog needed for me, although it would be interesting to see how many of us are dabbling in the arts. Quiet a few I suppose. All the best, Ky.

Nice reply Ky,

I think you're spot on about art and engineering, there's a seemless blend. Rigid notions of what is either hamstring us all. I've often seen people mesmerized, standing before some kind of art/engineering, be it in oil paint or steel etc.

From what I've learned via Del and others, the bow making is no overnight thing. Many hours, and months/years of selecting and preparing the right wood. It's probably impossible to write down exactly which piece of wood is just right, but there's probably a 'feel' for what will work that's acquired through handling the stuff.

Cheers,

kris

Happy New Year Sparky and CR4.

Thanks for a wonderful past year. You all made me to come back and check responses on some great threads and also a few mundane ones. I have started liking quite a few of you guys for your selfless commitment on efforts to make knowledge universal. Hats off!!, I would have said, but I do not use one.

Let's look forward to another knowledge centered New Year. All the best.

I always get the Daily Digest much more later!!!

Anyway... My best wishes for all CR4 team and members

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

I meditate using this prayer. I have found it vey useful. An author and teacher named Eknath Easwaran has guided me in these efforts and I have found his methods and manner of teaching most practical.

I'm just wondering if anyone has a definite answer about sparkstation coz it seems everybody's unusually quiet when I ask about him.

I had sent him personal messages twice enquiring about his health, but there was no response.His location is given his profile, I think some one from NZ can find about him.

How long ago was that?

I someone gave me the hint it could be really bad (more than likely the worst).

He sure was and somebody suggested yesterday this blog was his very last one.

It's so sad! He is now the second one I can think of loosing from CR4 this way.

Since we all know that this was his last post and since we also have known him to be something extraordinary, you think, is there a hidden message in this post of his like, why that one of the photo is not dynamic and why that last rotating one gives you a feeling of eternal cycle or probably a black hole?

C'mon, I'm doing this without being too emotional because, if what we think has happened to him, then it is nothing but natural and will happen to all of us one day or the other. We have to be thankful and celebrate the life of Sparky and his sharing and contributions which have been really sincere.

Dear Sparkstation,

I was pulled into CR4 because of you. Really miss your guidance & humor. Hope you will resume your service soon.
