Member Status Revisited

02/14/2009 3:14 AM

Respected members,

Recently I got interested in those member status things, and started guessing when one can become "Power-user", etc. Checking out the CR4 FAQ gave me the answer. However, dear and honored members, I would like to propose that those titles should be tied up *also* to the number of good answers. I believe a success percentage would be more meaningful than the number of posts, while observing a minimum number of posts to be able to qualify for promotion in each rank.

For example:

1-10: Participant

11-30: Member

up to 60 (or min. of 5 good answers): Active Contributor

61-100 (or min. of 20 good answers): Power User

101-500, or min of 50 good answers: Guru

501 and higher, or min of 300 good answers: Master

In this arrangement, promotion comes for the first 2 levels simply by number of posts, but the Active Contributor can be quickly obtained with 5 good answers. But without 20 good answers, the level Power User won't be attained. Same goes for the next higher levels.

Thoughts, anyone?

Isn't that taking it a bit far? Just look at this thread!

Re: Member Status Revisited

langyaw-san suggests the following Member Stati (archaic plural for status, I think ):

1-10: Participant

11-30: Member

up to 60 (or min. of 5 good answers): Active Contributor

61-100 (or min. of 20 good answers): Power User

101-500, or min of 50 good answers: Guru

501 and higher, or min of 300 good answers: Master

Now, this is a pretty good suggestion, all things considered. But may I suggest one additional level for the truly prolix?

Does it mean that you have decimated Bricky and now aiming for Devil

or The Brick has fallen you and hence you are reaching for devil ?

Clarification required.

But why do you like it to be water cooled ? the gas cooling may be better since as I heard the other day the next war will be fought over water and other resources.

And every other day there is a message "conserve water."

I rather propose forced natural wind Gas cooling.

I miss OP he is not contributing to the enlighened gathering.

"And every other day there is a message 'conserve water.'"

I was thinking of a closed-loop system. But come to think of it, liquid sodium might be more efficient. At least the folks who build nuclear reactors seem to think so (but don't even think of using a Ruski nuke. Theirs leak)

"I rather propose forced natural wind Gas cooling."

Now I like that idea! Self-cooling, except that the gases are prolly hotter and more corrosive than than the..er..the posts themselves? Like, when was the last time you played with Bromine (not Dawn)? <hehe>

"I miss OP ... he is not contributing to the enlighened gathering."

He's in shock for Bog's sake! Anyone who'd start a discussion in such a civil, intelligent way only to see his thread degenerate to a veritable OT Orgy should run screaming.

What do you bet he doesn't open his next discussion with "Respected Members." Ha! Boy did we have him schnookered!

Forget about opening his thread, I bet he is not going to post anything on CR4.

And we are going to miss him like the Homeheating guy.

But you have propesed Teflon - and these are supposed to be highly acid resistant. Though I don't know whether they can stand the explosions. I am waiting with bated breath for somebody to explode. I bet he has not seen this part of the thread yet.

What about Tungsten - being metal, it can stand the explosions better - but can it stand the acids ?

Re: Member Status Revisited

What I got of stati (had to search a lot )

Wiktionery

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stati

Verb stati (past tense statis, present tense statas, future tense statos, conditional mood status, jussive mood statu)

  1. to be (in a condition or state)

Croatian

Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *stati, from Proto-Indo-European *steh₂-.

Verb stȃti (impf.) Alternative infinitive of stàjati

Verb stȁti (pf.)

  1. (intransitive) to stop, halt
  2. (intransitive) to rise onto one's feet
  3. (intransitive) to cease an activity
  4. (intransitive) (+ infinitive) to start, initiate Stao je govoriti. — He started speaking.
  5. (intransitive) to fit into a vessel, space etc. Ne može stati! — It can't fit!

Italian

Noun stati m. Plural form of stato

So only in L'Italiano I see that your status is getting maintained.

Is 63 +95100 ?

Search for the Stati in google- it took just a few minutes- and then cut and paste

BTW Got the last line (chemicals)

Hint 63 = Eu

Nearest to l'italiano was 100 (No italium )

First you say, "What I got of stati (had to search a lot )"

and then you say,

"Search for the Stati in google- it took just a few minutes- and then cut and paste"

So which is it? 'Had to search a lot' or 'it took just a few minutes?' Are trying to tell me that the elusive Google is playing hardball today? Ha!

Personally, I suspect you've been taking my advice all along and are making this s#1t up as you go. Good man!

And didn't the Beatles do a tune called, "When I'm 63?"

Now you are 163 (What is your half-life ? I think it is 13 Yrs / 8 years

That means as we are discussing this you are decaying faster and faster - (you do not look the stable variety do you )

You see - I had to search a lot since I could get it in fifth page of google- but all the entries had cursory glance so few minutes-

This is the problem with humans when they drink coffee with energy. They become extremely selfconscious. Don't you have better things to drink ?

Anyway you should not try coffee - it is hot - cold coffee may be yes- i checked your background.

Hot coffee/tea etc are not your cup of tea - You ignite at 150 deg C. So don't even go near kitchen.

What is the feminine of Eu ? keep her informed and sit in front of TV with a glass of frothy cold liquid and some cool stuff like NBA on.

I beg to disagree

No accountant (sorry accounting professors) can look like that. Or may be yes, that's why we have now a days accountants like that. The don't look at the figures on papers .

PS: Note and I AM SHOUTING NOW BECAUSE EARTHLINGS DO NOT LISTEN

1. WE ARE HERMOPHRODITES

2. HUMAN BEINGS ARE EXTREMELY REPULSIVE TO US WITH ALL THOSE HAIRS (on their head )

3. THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE A DECENT PAIR OF EARS.

4. THEY UNNECESSARLLY WASRE A LOT OF HEAT (BIO-FRICTION) IN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY THINGS

and so on the list of your inefficiency and unnecessity is endless. That's what we have to once in a while take the matters in our hand and see that submarines collide.
