Missile Launch Off California Coast

11/10/2010 3:21 PM

Greetings All,

I have a little speculation on the recent launch of an unknown missle off the Calif. coast and would like some engineering opinions...

1) I dont think the missle launch was of the US govt doing, they have always addmitted their Vandenburg launches before, and the launch was at sea.

2) A US company would have admitted it and wanted the publicity.

3) A foriegn country would do it to show us they could get in close and we could not stop them...

4) A few years back N Korea launched a bunch of missles, one after the other and they kept blowing up after launch, everbody thought they were incompetent. Who would fire one after another, they would stop, figure out what was wrong, fix it, and then try again, they would only fire one after another if they were trying to break through a barrier.

5) The Govt has been working on flying laser tech for 20 years, they say they havent perfected it but last I heard they were now trying to put it on a Humvee, sounds like they have a working system to me, given the N. Korean missle destruction mentioned above.

6) It is better for a foreign not to admit and keep us guessing. So do ya all think it was N. Korea saying "yes we can" or China saying "stop devaluing the dollar before the G-20 meeting?

And now for the engineering question, given presuptions about their missle capabilities how far inland would it reach and how long would it take to get there, or how long to reach LA?

Don't think so - but during the above I was wondering on occasion if Catalina is actually Honshu in the minds of some folk

Valid reference. I do not wish to take you out of context, but the referral was there...

Who would be willing to follow thru? All the traditional nuclear powers know the result of an attack. There are only two countries that could have a full out slug match, and they both know the result. Fortunately they actually wished to exist in the morning.

MAD works with countries, that think beyond the here and now. As for the leaders of other so called states. Do you have a pair on dice, as a lot them do not care if their populations wake up vaporized.

I know that this may sound like, yet another of rants: It is just that history is a very nasty rear view mirror.

"as a lot them do not care if their populations wake up vaporized"

Yeah they do - it's where the wealth comes from and the labor gets done.

Though you could say "a lot them do not care if the part of the population opposing their rule, is vaporized".

But how do you do that, without disrupting the flow of "wine, women and song"?

Some societies don't have much respect for wine, women, and song....

Yeah - I know, but it was the only analogy, for the corrupt excesses of the powerful, that I figured I could publish.

The photograph seems to have more of a Hiragana accent than a Katakan accent, but what do I know? A few days ago I thought it was a shuttle launching through the sunrise.

If I stare at it long enough will I see Elvis?

(Using the Hiragana chart from #113)

At first it seemed like the picture was matching "te u". But, after spending more time studying the cloud and your chart it is starting to look like a sloppy "fu". I wonder if the "fu" message is trying to tell us that we are spending too much time trying to understand trails in the sky over Florida and California?

The OP seems to have taken a hike. Let's not forget that he made a number of libelous innuendoes about various people being on the "gov't payrole" for disagreeing with his dopey theories.

Yes it appears that way.

Good, Bad or Ugly, free speech still rules in our homelands. This forum is proof of that. I would not have it any other way.

It is up the OP to step up to the plate. Perhaps, with out unsupported statements, and perhaps a bit more plausible logic, or even supported facts.

Besides, some of the things he says makes me giggle!

Now I've seen it all......but singing toast or Elvis toast? LOL

Question: Does the Elvis toast like to eat Jelly doughnuts by chance?

In the past there have been Elvis sightnings...some included that Elvis was abducted by ALIENS! LOL Like give me a break.....and now we have this reputed missile or rocket launch, possibly there's a link between the Elvis toast, the Aliens and the missile/rocket shot?

Yes, I left the discussion, I never thought the guys on CR4 were this direspectful of someones opinion. Im not one who crys the sky is falling, I saw something that to me looks more like a rocket trail than a planes contrail, (if it was a multiengine at the point of origin you see a separation). I may have been wrong, instead of a rock falling on your head it may have just been a feather, fine next time i wont say duck.

The thing about cyberspace is it has brought out all the cowards, people will say things to others that are cheap shots, that they would never have the guts to say to their face. The other persons advantage though is having the last word, and telling the rude pukes to bite me and then blocking all incoming emails related to this post.

Not running away, just not bothering to listen to people who dont want to listen, you are not worth my time.

To the other people who question the govt.'s opinion, (oh yea this health care is good for you, social security will be there for you), good on ya, because the govt. lies to us all the time, so I dont think anything they say can be counted. You have to find all truth for yourself, and I would never trust anyone who acts like an English teacher, a majority of teachers in the US have a political agenda.

I have seen rocket lauches on the California coast AT SUNSET! in person, LIVE.

Everyother evening I watch the sunset off the Calif. coast and typically there are between 5 and 8 planes streaking across the horizon leaving contrails. I would say i have personal experience on visually defining an event like this and In my opinion Iam 70% certain it was a rocket, (100% is arrogance).

It seems I should apologize for finding this thread so amusing - I did not realize you had personally witnessed this launch - hence 70% sure.

That being the case - to address your other concerns - (and assuming it was not a USN 'oops' that landed no where noticeable, so is 'under the carpet')

China has a vested interest in not seeing the US 'go under' - either militarily or economically - US owes them too much money.

China has established itself as N Korea's 'only friend', precisely to be in the position to stop them actually doing anything - except Kim Jong-il cult needs to "keep the rage alive" stuff to S Korea.

Technically; It is thought that Sarah Palin may soon be in range of N Korean missiles, however that is 'fall from space' rather than 'launch trail'.

But naval technically; it's a long and lonely voyage across a US controlled Pacific for a "green water navy"

However - if N Korea could/did make the trip undetected, and could/did launch, they would be so deep in the sh*t with their 'only friend', that maybe the US has been prevailed upon to 'leave it to China' - hence the 'silence'.

The fact that N K leadership is transitioning, may add weight to this.

But all in all, I doubt they could do it.

I doubt they even have the ability to photo-shop it.

But - the latter ability would be a reason, if they had anything to do with it, they might be quiet about it. I.e. The people of Korea would unlikely hold a parade for a glorious propaganda victory achieved using American software.

For me, the truth matters... but not nearly as much as the journey that gets me there.

Given this, I'd like to extend EVERYONE here a thanks for such an entertaining ride! (and just so it is known, this ride most definitely resembled one on a rocket! ... or a plane hahaha...)

20 minutes at 17,000 mph and the guy who filmed it said he watched it for an hour and a half.

So he watched it go 5,666 thousand miles in the first 20.

Then what - an hour and a half later it passed overhead again?

Now I believe it.
