After countless failed attempts to sell his idea for the DAS valve to the engineering forums he finally gave up and changed his business direction to making the DAS electric scissors. Engineers are still skeptical of the design though.

He replaced the fuse with a thermal cut-off for added safety...

Or is it now a breaker with isolated handle?

A delayed time fuse.

-A really, really, really long time delay fuse.

-At least it's better than a copper penny put in behind the plug fuse, as I've seen done before! In this case, it may have been a penny farthing.

Or how to sharpen your scissors using the magic of electrical current as mentioned by Eloise's Helpful Home tips.

(BTW what is that form paperwork directly below this disaster waitng to happen - is this official approval for this experiment - like something from Consumer's Reports, or Mythbusters - Don't try this at home, folks)

Re: Caption This for 03/18/11

Hey Guys & Gals; when I was trying to go to sleep tonight, after my usual smart-ass reply to this week's 'Caption This presentation', I thought about how to go about a 'scissor' welding process. I actually woke up and thought about this concept for awhile, before I decided to follow up with a further reply to yous guys & gals.

I've been involved with many types/forms of welding involving heating of similar and/or dissimilar metals together, including your basic oxy-acetylene, AC/DC arc welding, Butt and seam welding, MIG/TIG, Plasma, and so on....

Does a scissor type welder mechanism (as shown in the caption), seem to fit any practical applications? (arc welding a seam at a certain closing rate).

Obviously it would entail an electrical arc process of some comprehension (AC/DC, and if AC - what frequency involved, time durations, resistance, voltage and current calcs., temps. of molten masses, cooling times, slag deposits and subsequent cleaning of same, air and oxygen and mixed gas deposits, tensile strengths of the welds, analysis of same, and so on).

My point is; Has anyone tried a "scissor" type of 'Arc' welding before? If not, it may be worthwhile a test run. Please give me a reply, yes, no, maybe; good, bad or otherwise. Thank you - Loupy

And enjoy the continuing funny comments on 'Caption This' - I always look forward to Sharkles' blog every Thursday afternoon.

P.S. - I've rated me-selves 'off topic'.

Bob was a tidy guy, and always liked to keep his rechargeable scissors plugged in, right next to his electric paperweight.

Alright, the first thing we do is jam this plug in there really good. Now that that's done, take the scissors and wedge them in there real tight.......

Ok, now we've completed the circuit so you should be good to use your toaster in the bath tub.

Next week on Home Makeover, we'll cover using a table saw in the crawl spaces.

This only brings to mind of the 4 year old that used a hair pin in his teeth to accomplish about the same thing. This was in the 1950's. look likew he grew up..I would lik to see his face now. Had the opportunity to see it then.
